My boyfriend goes on Facebook and Instagram, but doesn’t reply to my messages

I noticed this a few days ago. I usually message him on WhatsApp. I was on Instagram and noticed he’d been on after I sent the message.

We see eachother once or twice a week. Now a days I notice his texts are getting further and further apart. I don’t think I text him too much- maybe a handful of small ones day when we aren’t together.

I sent him a message a few hours ago and just noticed he’s been on Facebook not long ago.

In person he’s attentive but I can’t help but feel abit down about this. Am I being petty?

It's easy to get hooked on checking online status when you happen, by chance, to notice someone's online but not replied to a text sent way before. It's too easy to get sucked into that, and god knows why social media platforms feel the need to advertise online status. I have mine turned off, simply because I don't always want to engage in messaging when a friend sees I'm using my phone. But, there's a difference between a friend not replying and a partner. Friends have their own tuff going on, but you should be a priority to your boyfriend and vice versa, and not second to him posting on Instagram, FB and other platforms. Why don't you turn your online status off, then you won't see his. Then back off a bit and see what happens.
