Just received this from our childminder. Do you think it's a suitable response to a bumped head?

Hi. Pedro has tripped and bumped his head on the bookcase. He’s got a right little mark. He’s fine and I’ll keep an extra eye on him but obviously with it being a head bump I needed to let you know xx

Yes totally fine. She's basically saying he's totally fine but legally she has to tell you so you can keep eye on it to when you pick up.

School and nursery do exactly same. Although if a big enough bump would call too.

Ps I used to get a bumped head message most days when my littlest was 2!

LovelyIssues · 01/12/2023 13:34

Yep totally fine. They even told you where he bumped and how which is MUCH more info then you'll get once they start school, if you even get a letter.

Perfect fine message.

Our health trust has issued guidance that specifically says not to bring them in for such things

Kids bump their heads all the time ! If you got them checked out after every bump you’d live in ED.

she did the right thing by informing you and presumably at pick up you’ll be told in more detail with an incident form completed

What did you expect Glasgow coma scale and neuro obs?

Stellastag · 02/12/2023 04:05

Good childminder. My kids primary school rang me the other day over my kid getting a cut lip messing around with his friend. It’s the right thing to do. Better than your kid collapsing from the head injury you knew nothing about it and don’t get him the right help at the right time.

Yes. It's absolutely fine. They've followed protocol and contacted you about the head bump. If you see the message and you're worried, pick your child up.
