To think that I might kill someone?

Sooo, Xmas cakes are in the oven. Feeling quite pleased with myself and tackling the washing up only to find that the Kilner jar that the wine soaked fruit were in has a 3” hole!

This was only evident when it was taking a long time to fill the jar, to give it a soak then wash. I lifted it up and turned it round to find water running out.

I’ve found what looks about half of the missing piece of glass but wonder if the rest is in the cake?!

Am I likely to bump someone off with a slice of xmas cake? 🤔

My Mum once had this with a broken glass blender and some soup she served at a dinner party. My top tip is throw the cakes.

Is there anyone that you really hate that you can pass off the cake to?!!

I was joking in case people thought I was really serious.....

Just picturing the birds stumbling about from the boozy cake, never mind glass shards!

I think we all know there are no glass shards in there. You just can’t take the risk with humans eating it.

Don't give it to the birds or wildlife, FFS.

I made 3 x 23cms cakes a couple weeks ago, had to make them separately cos only had 1 big cake tin. lot of baking! get to tesco this morning and get baking. moisten cake by putting brandy in every week. saves time

Fine for Halloween, not for Christmas :)

put the cake in the bin. Such a frustrating thing to happen I know, but eating a shard if glass could cause so much damage.

When I was about 12 I once bit into a scone my Mum had made and it had a HUGE chunk of glass in it! The size of a marble but obviously a jagged shape.

Turns out my Mum had broken the huge, thick glass jar that housed her sultanas while making the scones, thought she'd cleared it all from the worktop but hadn't!

Oh god, what a nightmare. I really don’t think you can serve it but I’m honestly heartbroken for you!
