How much pizza?

Party for 4 year olds. 15 children and I'm not sure how many adults - could potentially be 30 if both sets of parents for each child come. Plus a few of my (adult) family.
We've got crudités & dips, plus crisps and a few snack things but the main food is going to be pizza.
We're doing food for everyone - grown ups included. I don't think we have enough, my husband does.
3 vegan / gluten free pizzas and 10 normal ones.
I think I should buy more pizzas - AIBU?

You served 55 people 8 normal sized pizzas?

No - I served 10 and only 8 got eaten.

I love the update.

I was right that children only eat a slice, but i was wrong that adults would eat half a pizza if they were invited to lunch. I think they werent eating lunch just having a nibble which is more the normal state of play at kids parties.

One of my closest friends only served crisps and cake at her kids party as she realised thats all the kids actually ate the previous year.

EtiennePalmiere · 27/11/2023 14:27

Sorry but if it was cooked an hour before I'm not surprised there weren't many takers ! I The extras sound nice though.

fgjhb · 27/11/2023 14:49

Forgot to add, I also made jam sandwiches which also didn't get eaten.

Cold pizza? I'm not surprised it went uneaten.

ConsuelaHammock · 27/11/2023 15:41

I’d plan for 1/2 pizza per adult and 1/4 per child.

Notimeforaname · 27/11/2023 15:42

I'd say the adults left it because it was cold.

Cold pizza and jam sandwiches wont be what most adults think of when they are told they will be fed. Fine for children (although the pizza should really be hot)

Avoid this in future by only catering hot food to the kids. Parents can have some crisps if desperate.

LOL.

I don't think in 15 years I have ever been to a kids party with hot food... what planet are people on.

Cold pizza is a standard food at parties.

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 27/11/2023 19:48

Yes sorry i would not eat cold pizzas unless i am hungover

willowthecat · 27/11/2023 19:59

If you are catering for the adults as well which is a lovely idea though probably not normally expected ? I would think maybe at least half a standard pizza per adult and at least a quarter for a young child .

WhichIsItWendy · 27/11/2023 20:04

I have three young children around the same age as they share a single pizza with crudités for dinner.

So I reckon 6 pizzas for the kids will do to be on the safe side.

Then, I reckon 10 pizzas for the adults. I highly doubt each child will come with both parents, it's normally just one parent from my experience, potentially two if bringing younger siblings.

Also, people don't eat as much as they want. At parties, I pick at food when really I want to scoff it down. Etiquette 😬

WhichIsItWendy · 27/11/2023 20:07

You could make a big bowl of pasta salad to accompany the adults pizza?

Why just the adults? The kids should have salad too.

Because the kids have crudités and crisps already?

It was a suggestion, I'm a bit confused why you're challenging a random suggestion that she can make pasta salad to accompany the adults meals? Are you offended on the theoretical children's behalves?

No just surprised it was specifically for the adults as if kids couldn't eat it

Wendysfriend · 27/11/2023 21:49

Cold pizza 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮 I'm not surprised they weren't eaten. Cold pizza is disgusting. Why didn't you stick them in the microwave to heat them up or tell people to choose what they wanted and heat it up.

Jam sandwiches too 🤮🤮🤣🤣🤣 I have a feeling your guests might have stopped off at McDonald's on the way home .

8x8 = 64 so 1 slice each with a remained of 9 slices. Plus there was lots of other food.

Most 3-4 year old will not eat more than 1 slice and most parent at most probably just picked.

😂😂😂 that’s bonkers, eight tiny cold slices and one each. 😂😂😂

NewShoes · 28/11/2023 06:24

Adults don’t usually go to kids parties expecting to eat a full meal. They will usually have a slice of pizza once the kids are finished and leaving to play. I’m with the others, go for some wraps or sandwiches you can put out as well and you don’t have to worry about pizza overload in the oven…

If you went to a buffet restaurant would you really take an ENTIRE pizza for yourself? Because thats not how buffets work.

Rosiiee · 28/11/2023 09:23

I’d say that’s plenty! Especially if you’re providing other snacks and cake! Kids will be too busy playing to eat and your DH is right, adults will only nibble and have a slice or two.

Where are you that you have a full kitchen to custom cook food during a kids party?

Not to mention the time and staff you would need to cook fresh for 55 people.

It's a kids party not a restaurant. OP didn't have to feed the adults at all, she was being nice by offering something she was no obligation to do.

Lots of people here are very snobbish and entitled in proclaiming 'that freebie I got wasn't good enough'... beggers can't be choosers people now eat your cold pizza or go buy your own food.

No one wanted the pizza as it was cold. Possibly not very nice even to start with depending on quality. Let’s all be honest, here, if 55 folks can’t eat 10 pizzas, it’s because it isn’t good. And yes there were crisps and jam sandwiches.

im guessing this was a budget thing, the op would have been better spending the money she spent on the pizzas on normal sandwiches ie cheese, ham, whatever.
