How much pizza?

Party for 4 year olds. 15 children and I'm not sure how many adults - could potentially be 30 if both sets of parents for each child come. Plus a few of my (adult) family.
We've got crudités & dips, plus crisps and a few snack things but the main food is going to be pizza.
We're doing food for everyone - grown ups included. I don't think we have enough, my husband does.
3 vegan / gluten free pizzas and 10 normal ones.
I think I should buy more pizzas - AIBU?

If you will be having the oven on anyway you could cook baked potatoes or wedges aa well. I'd make the pizza slices quite small for the children.

EtiennePalmiere · 24/11/2023 18:10

I would get 20-25, but make sure I can keep unused ones in the freezer. Is there a teen you can pay to pass around slices so they don't get cold ?

Pipistrellus · 24/11/2023 18:11

I'd look at more food you can prep/cook ahead and serve cold. I don't think that many pizzas is practical.

tescocreditcard · 24/11/2023 18:12

Buy lots of fresh pizzas. they only take 10-15 minutes to cook if you need to serve more and if you don't you can freeze them.

Doseofreality · 24/11/2023 18:12

Take a slow cooker and stick hot dogs in it, few packets of buns and a bottle of tomato ketchup. Sorted, some kids don’t like pizza.

sushiburger · 24/11/2023 18:12

How are you going to get all that in your oven?

sushiburger · 24/11/2023 18:14

You'll only have enough for 1/4 of a pizza each i think.

I would do this, or in a pan if there’s a hob. Perhaps take a load if other cold stuff too, sandwich/sausage roll type of thing.

Sherrystrull · 24/11/2023 18:16

I'd do sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc and just do a few pizzas.

Pizzas are suppose to be cooked hot, so 5 minutes max. The box always says more but if you think of a pizza oven it would be cremated.

Sherrystrull · 24/11/2023 18:17

In my experience, you want food you can put out all together. You don't want to be spending the entire party in a kitchen faffing with pizzas.

You could even do a selection of cakes, scones etc for the adults instead.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 24/11/2023 18:17

We did pizza for my Dd's 5th birthday - 30 kids. We got 12 large pizzas and cut each slice in 2 to make them smaller and that was loads

Divebar2021 · 24/11/2023 18:18

Are these your friends or your kids friends parents because I’ve never known both sets of parents to all turn up to a kids party. Sometimes a couple would show but I’ve never seen a party with all the dads ( unless it’s family friends )

This

And maybe a tuna pasta or chicken pasta aswel

Owl55 · 24/11/2023 18:20

You can order a huge pre cooked pizza from Asda cafe and collect at a certain time , much easier and plenty for everyone and reosonable price , we’ve done it for football team party .

Dizzydials · 24/11/2023 18:20

How long is the party and what time? Most people aren’t going to expect to leave full, they’ll just want a few nibbles.

FiveGoldDoughnutRings · 24/11/2023 18:20

I can understand why you want to just offer pizza, it goes down well with most and doing hot dogs etc is just an extra faff.

herbyham · 24/11/2023 18:21

It might end up cheaper to order a few of those massive rectangle ones from a local pizza shop than buying the shop ones!
That way you won't have to cook them all either

Please don't do this, hot dogs are rank, carcinogenic and unsuitable for anyone who doesn't eat pork or gluten. [vomit]

CornishGem1975 · 24/11/2023 18:24

I'd calculate around 3 slices of pizza per adult, maybe 2 per child? My DS is 3 and he'd easily nail 4 pieces but he's a beast and a pizza addict. 😂

This sounds like a good plan

Onelifeonly · 24/11/2023 18:26

How are you going to cook 13 pizzas? 4 year olds will not each much pizza- one would be enough for 4 to 6 children.

30 adults won't come - not a chance! They won't expect a full meal if they do. Maybe scrap the adult pizzas and have a few more sophisticated nibbles for the adults.

What time will they be eating? Kids parties are generally at times I'd consider between meals - mid pm usually.

ItWasntMyFault · 24/11/2023 18:28

I very much doubt that both parents would go and I also doubt they would eat much - much more likely to pick at a few bits.

The children will also be wanting to go off and play rather than eat loads.

I'd get a couple of large rectangular pizzas like a pp said and cut them into small squares.

You can then have a few nibbly bits to go with the pizzas.

Yes Pizzas are great for those avoiding gluten 🧐

HerMammy · 24/11/2023 18:31

I wouldn't cater for parents regards party food, feed the kids.
