Or “incredible”. I think it’s really easy to believe most/all of the things that people describe as incredible.

I also hate this. My DC have also started to say 'search up' instead of just research/Google. "Mum can you search up how to...." I've told them they will need to leave if they continue. Both under 8 but I think that's fair.

Actually “search up” may be less offensive than “research”. People who say they do their own research do nothing of the kind - they just do a google search.

Adjectives modify nouns, adverbs modify verbs and adjectives.

@TwiddlingMyToes , yes, it does evolve, but such evolutions make no sense! We have such a rich and descriptive language, yet we are adopting such nonsense as 'super' and 'reaching out' rather than contacting someone (I mean, why say "I'll reach out to Grumpyface" rather than "I'll ring Grumpyface"?

I appreciate that few today worry about being able to understand spelling, grammar and appropriate use of language, so we may be a small collective of voices railing into the wind!

Also, Grumpyface is a good descriptor of me

'Reach out' sounds (dare I say it 😉) super sensitive. Could also cover any form of communication: phone, email, semaphore. But, yes, I agree, it's super irritating and mostly prattish.

Here's another to grind your gears and raise your blood pressure: 'based off of'. No! Whatever it is, it's 'based on', or even 'based upon'.

Yes…I’ve mentioned it on here before. Nobody is ever very busy/excited/pleased, it’s all so OTT, ‘devastated’ over the most trivial of things, when really you’re disappointed….its all so dramatic! 🙈

I hate "reach out". When I hear it I picture the speaker stretching their arm in a a Rose-on-the-door (or did she even reach out for/to him) type gesture.

But I love "Super". It's enthusiastic and I am trying to embrace the evolution of language.

What I cannot do is use the americanised sanitising of language: poop (instead of poo), passed on 🙄 instead of died.

"Spooky" is an adjective in the example given (not a verb), so OP is right that "super" is an adjective here.

I quite like the enthusiasm of "super", especially when said in a super-posh voice.

I like to comment 'Incredible scenes.' in a dry tone when people are being excessively gushy- it often brings people down to Earth a bit!
