TMI Warning: I think there's poo coming out of my vagina.

Goodfood1 · 18/11/2023 07:16

Not sure what to do and sorry for the tmi.
Hoping for some MN wise advice. I've just been to the toilet and when I wiped front there was some soft stool there. Because it was not just a skid mark but say 10p size I didn't think I was wiping badly back to front.

I then showered to make sure I was properly clean and stuck a cotton bud up and it's coming out brownish... so could be just a discharge, I can't smell it as bad. Or could be poo.

Now I'm feeling an ache but not pain. And am not sure if it's my imagination and if I should just wait and see if happens again.

Anyone had any experience or advice?
Not sure I wanna run to A&E but am a but worried.

Aibu to worry ?

Poo can't come out that way. They're not linked. It'll be discharge. Is there any smell to it, you have pain? You might have an infection.

DustyLee123 · 18/11/2023 07:19

You should always wipe front to back

Flickersy · 18/11/2023 07:22

It could be a fistula. Have you recently given birth or had surgery in the area?

Gooshie · 18/11/2023 07:23

Thicklegs, not quite true. Fistulas (connections) can form between cavities like the rectum and vagina.

Hoardasurass · 18/11/2023 07:24

.

Goodfood1 · 18/11/2023 07:24

Thanks. Yeah I'm thinking maybe a fistula. Not recently given birth and had surgery maybe 2 years ago to drain an infection.
I'm mid 50's

Are you due a period? Could you be miscarrying? It could be blood.

Grimchmas · 18/11/2023 07:26

Could it be period blood/clot?

Vinvertebrate · 18/11/2023 07:27

This happened to a friend of mine and it was a fistula from bowel surgery. It’s worth getting it checked.

WolfFoxHare · 18/11/2023 07:27

Ah not likely to be a miscarriage if you’re in your fifties. Do you still have periods? If not, any possible bleeding should be investigated (as should a possible fistula, obviously).

Goodfood1 · 18/11/2023 07:41

Not a miscarriage as he's had the snip and I'm menopausal.

On HRT and recently had a period.

OP posts:
margotrose · 18/11/2023 07:46

It's probably old/dried blood - very common after a period.

Ohnoooooooo · 18/11/2023 07:59

Are you sure not brown blood? Common with menopause I just had a brown blood period for a few days - Gyno said it was my last hurrah - last period sort of thing.

Goodfood1 · 18/11/2023 08:02

When I wiped it was 100% poo.
However once washed and out a cotton bud in me to looked more like ery dark discharge. So am not sire if I wiped badly first time.

Do you have wind coming out of your bladder when you pee?
Could be a fistula, especially if you have had recurrent UTI’s or diverticulitis

Is there a whistling sound or when you do a wee? What sort of surgery did you have for infection? If diverticulitis or crohns this could be a fistula ( abnormal connection forms joining bowel to another organ eg bladder ). See your GP or if you feel unwell go to ED.

Radiatorlife · 18/11/2023 08:10

Get GP appointment early next week to discuss. If you are rwally worried, call 111. But does not sound like an A&E job.

Thicklegs · 18/11/2023 08:11

Never even heard of fistula, just googled and still confused. Does the anus then open into the vagina? New paranoia unlocked ha.

lljkk · 18/11/2023 08:11

If it's fistula then it will recur.

Get it checked out by your G.P. I wouldn’t personally go to A&E unless you’re 100% positive. Ring 111 if you are concerned.

CissOff · 18/11/2023 08:12

This happened to a relative and it was a fistula. Were you having a bowel movement when it happened? Or was it just there? Your OP isn’t clear.
