Before children ( as a teacher ) I had my ridiculous expectations of parenting . How I laugh.

No dummies
No screens in a restaurant
1 hour or tv ( you see my children would be busy crafting !)
hahahahahha

I have a 3 month old and a 2 year old and I am becoming so stressed. Why on earth I don’t just let dd watch the tv ? Would stop me chasing her around and exhausting myself at 8am. Why didn’t I just give the children dummies .
I am becoming so stressed and I imagine this will cause more issues longer term than a dummy , few hours of pig could ?

Should I just let dd watch the bloody tv ?

Big difference between TV and personal screens of you ask me. Get Cbeebies on.

But not rude Peppa or Bing the whiner.

I think as long as you limit screen time it's fine. There are plenty of educational and low stimulation programs available.

Dummies are actually recommended in babies under 6 months as they're proven to reduce the risk of SIDs. Babies can't forget to breathe if they're actively sucking.

If only family life went as smoothly as a Disney film! I don’t know if this helps but for anything that I think would have a major impact on the children’s development for example deciding how much time to allow on the PS4 or Xbox for the week I would always use articles or scientifically backed resources like “KidZ Online Safety” etc. As i'm pretty logical (at least I think so anyway! 😂)
I found they have a pretty good article on screen time https://kidzonlinesafety.com/index.php/2023/10/03/screen-time-for-kids/
hope this helps!

@ManchesterLu Thankyou, I agree, it makes me a better mum as I can get things done, have a little headspace so then I can be ace in my next bit of spending time with them.
It's a different world on here to the one I know, I'm surrounded by people in all walks of life from different areas who let them watch tv and ipads etc.
The mums who don't get a break/insist on no tv/must breastfeed/must cook from scratch/must do set amount of wholesome activities are the ones who seem the most run ragged and stressed.

I have just forked out a fortune to straighten DDs teeth caused by dummy use as a toddler - and it was still worth it!! She was a twin and dummy brought her huge comfort. A snuggle with teddy and a dummy is heaven for little ones. As long as they don't have it when walking around or worse while trying to talk then I think its ok. I can't stand that dummy talk, you know when they are trying to talk around the dummy. Cbeebies is lovely quality stuff. Or cocomelon on Youtube, its lovely nursery rhymes.
