Going no contact with friend but still love her parents

I've had a major falling out with my oldest friend, the result of years of resentment. I've decided to cut all contact with her for my own mental health. But I still love her parents. They're like my second family and I'd hate to lose them. AIBU to think I can still maintain a relationship with them even if I have nothing to do with their daughter anymore? For context myself and friend are both late 30s and she doesn't live with them.

You don't need her approval, it's not about that. I expect they care for you deeply, but there is a difference between a person who's lived with you for a couple of years and the child/children you raise. The former is maybe a close aunty/uncle type relationship. It's not the same as a daughter. My ILs will be cordial with me, we can have a chat at shared events, but there's no way it would be fair to seek support off them even though their son has been abusive. He's their child, it's that simple. I'd feel sad to lose someone who was like a beloved niece to me, but I don't think I'd be able to maintain contact in this situation and it wouldn't be fair to my DD to do so.

Op
You must understand that you will always come a distant second to their own daughter. Chances are they will be offered on her behalf.
Of course try jf you wish to but odds are they will phase you out over time .

Do they know you’ve had a row? Are they aware you were having issues with her? I’m in the same kind of position, it’s such a dilemma. 😢

This happened to a friend of mine. His very entitled friend tried to stay in touch with his sister and family. They found it all completely awkward and quite bizarre from her.
