I’m losing weight, so food/clothes seem pointless. What can I ask for? I’m thinking token as opposed to a big expensive item.

a pair of Joe browns jeans from OH i love thier jeans and its an easy to find present and something thats actually useful , from the kids god knows

We gift the kids who are now all nearly grown up now. I say "kids" I mean my daughter and her cousins.

I'm separated so this year I don't expect a pressie from my STBXH but I imagine he will help DD pick something for me, & I will do the same in return.

My mum is getting me an Emma Bridgewater teapot because I saw one I liked. I'm giving her some posh soaps. We aren't going bonkers this year because of the COL.

My daughter wants a new ring or a Jellycat toy. On the Jellycat subject she's 17 and recently got into collecting them. 😂

Tickets to Standing at Sky's Edge, and Harry Potter 1&2 the same weekend - already booked, joint present to each other for DH and I. Likely a generous cheque from my dad, which will go a long way towards hotel in London for the weekend. He usually gives us money and says book a treat with it. Book or 2 from adult ds, and homemade Christmas Decs or earrings from adult dd probably.

Dc both getting theatre tickets from us, dd and bf also getting gig tickets. DS in the process of buying a house, we will buy him a washing machine or similar for birthday and Christmas. Not exciting but useful!

We tend to only gift things to the kids in the family. Maybe I am odd but I find grown ups writing gift lists weird (I will get nothing, if that answers your question).

Another perspective/experience - Both my parents, my in-laws and my husband will give me gifts for Christmas and they all like to know what I’d like so they can pamper me. MIL particularly takes so much time and thought buying, and wrapping, and genuinely wishes to give me things I will feel pampered with, my parents live continents away and equally want to do the best they can online shopping and my DH knows I get anything off Vinted so would like to give me something new that I’d never buy myself.

all these people need some list from me and nothing weird about that :)

Me and DH agreed to replace our coffee maker. We love or coffee maker, but the brew button has been broken for over a year. The programmable timer works fine. The manufacturer has been onshoring production for almost a year so a replacement hasn’t been available and now that it is the price is 3x what we originally paid 😕.

So that’s our present to each other this year.

I only get gifts from 2 adult dcs and dh ( purposely)
Dcs are giving me theatre tokens and V and A membership.
Dh and I have agreed £100 budget.....always a surprise as we are very good at gifting! We have booked a night away in a lovely country hotel in January instead of spending more on gifts.

I’m not writing a gift list. I’d like a token (like I already said) because it’s considerate of my Dh. Not sure why you answered if you think it’s odd to do that.

I am getting a Longchamp Le Pliage travel bag. I know this because we bought it yesterday and it is now on top of the wardrobe in in the spare room 😁

Cherrysoup · 12/11/2023 16:29

Re hobby, my Dh would not encourage it following a mobility limiting accident because of my hobby 😢 Not sure I would, either! Maybe a related book would be good.

We don’t buy anything for each other, but we might get something joint that we want or need.
