to be a bit annoyed that when people that work with the general public, are sworn etc, most people just stand there and do not speak up!

hi there. I work in pub trade so it comes with job. I have often been abused and watched as the whole pub has done nothing. I as a whole will not intervene if ds is with me until i have accessed the situation(having worked in pubs for nearly twenty years. It is like a sixth sense!) if i dont think i will put ds in danger i will say something. I was on a bus when some polish drunks were giving some poor muslim girls abuse. I told them to shut up and keep their opinions to themselves. And also pointed out that they were in fact twats!) some bloke behind them(algerian) gave them a slap to! Also been on tube just after bombing and watched as some poor bloke literally sat on his own in near empty carriage whilst teenagers called him a terrorist just because he was arabic. I just called the guard. Called everyone involved facists! And sat with him to he got off. He was shaken poor man. This country is going to the dogs because dc are not being brought up to respect their elders or anyone. Being allowed to hang about on street corners till late night.

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 11/03/2008 16:06

Sorry had to come back , could'nt help myself!

Motherfunk if you would look at my post on page one at 13:58:23 you could read my exact words "now i'm a mother with DC's in tow", and their safety is my responsibility. This was my second post, and i answered the question with this in mind.

HonoriaGlossop · 11/03/2008 16:21

good for you misdee

Agree it is always worth speaking up otherwise anti social idiots have no reason to think there's anything wrong with their behaviour. We have to withdraw our consent to it.

occassionally i have stuck up for people, like yelling at the bus driver when he purposely shut a man's arm in the door. the guy was in pain. however, most of the time i haven't as the abusive person has been pretty scary.

i had a bloke screaming and swearing at me on a train once , after he'd pushed me off the train but i'd just hopped back on to give him some abuse of my own. another bloke tried to stick up for me but he ended up having this bloke turn on him. the rest of the train ignored us, apart from one fuckwit who shouted 'mind you language' to both of us. didn't seem to really care i had just been pushed off a train and was in serious danger of getting a pasting from a bloke twice my size.

funnily enough, this was a london commuter train.

I have always found in the shop i work in that workman are always the best and most polite customers to serve. They are friendly, always have a bit of banter, never fussy or talk down to you and rarely ever want a plastic bag even if they have about 7 items!

The rudest are always women who work in offices. They seem to make the most demands and are the most fussy. Plus they always want a plastic bag, even if they only have one tiny roll! And some talk down to you.

I remember these two women in the que once talking about how they were being made redundant from their office and one piped up "oh well i could always work here..." then laughed for ages really loud! I was thinking 'what makes you think we would hire you!'

Old people are ok, you expect a certain amount of rudeness from them but most are lovely.

MiniEggsMmm · 12/03/2008 20:02

To add though, anyone who serves the general public have my utter most respect! You are all saints with the crap you have to put up with from people!

rantinghousewife · 12/03/2008 20:08

um, I used to work in a job that required dealing with the general public and you do find that people, surprisingly do come to your aid.
The worst ones for giving out abuse ime are the city peeps, we had one perfectly respectable city gent have one mother of a tantram (threw his briefcase on the floor, jumped up and down whilst shouting 'you fucking cunthole bitch, why didn't you hold the train for me'), the woman behind him gave him a stern lecture on manners and he swore at her too.

rantinghousewife · 12/03/2008 20:11

Sorry he was perfectly respectable looking, he obviously wasn't perfectly respectable.

MiniEggsMmm · 12/03/2008 20:13

It's normally the ones who look the most respectable that are the rudest!
