To want to know the childhood toy/game you'd still love to have now?

Mine would be the flat bed of the Fisher price campervan. He was my best friend growing up, I pulled that truck everywhere (he also had a name)
I can't justify buying one from eBay, but if I see one at a charity shop it's coming home with me and I'm in my fifties.
If I could gift you one of your childhood toys now what would it be?

@MardiBras Ah I was horse mad too. Desperately wanted a pony. I lived in a 3 bed semi in a cul de sac. Parents said there was no room in the garden for a pony 😆
I managed to persuade my parents to let me try riding lessons. Oh the excitement! It was all going swimmingly until half an hour into my first riding lesson when my pony decided to rear up, I fell off & the pony stood on my arm & broke it. That was my riding career over as soon as it started 🥲

My green princess flying my little pony.

IStandWithACrutch · 10/11/2023 22:29

Merlin. I loved it.

ElfAndSafetyBored · 10/11/2023 22:30

I really want my 1970’s treehouse back too. You can buy old ones on eBay or there is a new one out now that is very similar. But it’s not the same is it. Or is it? Shall I buy one?

WotNoLoobrush · 10/11/2023 22:31

Fisher Price record player.

tillytoodles1 · 10/11/2023 22:32

I'd love a spirograph.

EatYourVegetables · 10/11/2023 22:32

My teddy.

THE teddy. The white one whose poor nose got bitten up all the way when I was teething, and who was drooping so far he was barely identifiable as a bear, and whom my mother tried to keep alive and wash and clean for decades, until it finally came apart in the washing machine and stopped being a bear and became what he’d always been - a pile of fluff.

The Magic Robot!
He knew the answers to everything!

I still have mine! I also have the old guess who, downfall and perfection.

I would like 'stay alive'.

Old fashioned Fisher Price school house! I found the people at my dad's house and DD loves them.

I still have this too though the magnetic letters are no more. I lost some of the people but I still have Susan Julian Alice Tom and Billy. 😊

unfairornot · 11/11/2023 06:34

@WotNoLoobrush yes that was it! I also had a play family merry go round that had a record player attached with 3 records so think I mixed the two together. There really was some lovely toys.

Letsbekindplease · 11/11/2023 06:59

Now that I have kids I would love my “baby all gone” with the milk bottle and cherries. I’ve seen them 2nd hand but they’re not in the best condition. My last memory of mine was discoloured In the garden lol had her years though

also the proper sky dancer toys. And old polly pockets.

Letsbekindplease · 11/11/2023 07:01

Another vote for the Britain's Garden, with greenhouse, borders, pond etc.

Very 1950s (ours was a hand-me-down from relatives) but just so much fun! You could re-design the layouts in so many ways.

Loved spirograph, Etch-a-sketch and the slinky spring. Also Spin Quiz and Beetle Drive.

We've kept our children's favourite toys and they're up in the loft (Playmobil, lego, duplo, brio). Whether or not I ever get grandchildren, they're worth keeping. My children like to know they're there, and we get them out for visiting children, much to their delight.

WeShallHaveFogByTeatime · 11/11/2023 07:29

@CoffeeCantata
I've never heard of Britain's garden, I would have loved that.
SLINKY! I loved mine
Just realised nobody has mentioned space hoppers or Pogo sticks.

The one I got last year is a decent replacement, though the figures are animals and the car is a bit different, but for me the lift was the main feature that I loved and it has that, and the swing, and it pops up in the same way 😊

RubySunset82 · 11/11/2023 10:07

Not RTFT but my Bluebird A La Carte Kitchen. I think I wrecked it trying to cook beans in it! I still remember the little blue pans and the oven. I loved that kitchen.

Drat - can't manage to copy in a photo of the Britain's garden, but I see there are several available on eBay - do have a look - I think they're wasted on children!!

Might get another for myself....
