Throwing up in public

I was unwell on holiday recently, food poisoning.

I was in a tourist attraction and suddenly felt very sick. It came on very quickly/ unexpectedly, and there was no time to get to a loo. I simply had to turn to face the nearest wall/ corner and just throw up. It was horrible and embarrassing, as there was a queue of people nearby waiting to get into something.

The people just watched me, some looked awkward, some looked disgusted. No one offered a kind word or asked if I was OK, they just stared. I found myself apologising to them and then I just went outside feeling awful and trying to clean myself up.

AIBU to think someone could have asked if I was OK? I was on my own.

Awful situation, happened to me once too. I was actually watching my DC’s sports day with toddler DD and I felt that rush all of a sudden, I just knew I was going to vomit. I ran out of the school grounds because I definitely did not want to throw up in front of the whole school. I made it to the pub car park over the road and vomited in a bush whilst holding onto DD’s arm so she didn’t run away. A few people walked past but didn’t say anything. It was early afternoon on a weekday and I had a toddler with me but I don’t know if everyone assumed I’d been drinking in the pub or something?

Anyway, I wouldn’t expect strangers to stop and offer any support personally and I didn’t back then. It’s a bit of an odd situation, vomit is obviously absolutely horrible so most people don’t want to go near it.
