Hi, AIBU to keep all my condiments in the fridge once opened, what does everyone else do? As they seem to take up huge amounts of space…

Ongoing discussion in our house! I say cupboard, DP says fridge. Fridge is winning, mainly because we live in a part of a country that's fairly hot 3-4 months of the year and never really gets very cold.

My Marmite remains hidden in the cupboard, along with peanut butter and honey.

Once opened, most things will last longer if they go in the fridge. Some things don't need to because they are 99% sugar so that will preserve them in or out of the fridge (like chocolate spread, honey, jam etc).

We keep all our condiments in the fridge. The only things that are kept in a cupboard are honey, marmite, peanut butter and chocolate spread

cold ketchup is rank

Peanut butter and marmite don't go in the fridge because I want my bread to stay whole.
The only time my condiments stay out is in winter. It's usually colder in my kitchen than in the fridge

Lots of condiments now are made with lower sugar and salt than you'd use to make them at home in the traditional way. So unfortunately they will go off if you don't refrigerate.
Honey, peanut butter, maple syrup and actual proper butter are the only things that don't go in the fridge here.
