Anyone else wondered if it'll be safe to walk to and from school tomorrow with weather warnings in place? We have a 20ish min walk and I don't have a car. Considering booking a taxi but am counting every penny. Or am I being ott and walk will likely be fine? Already very windy here.

I'm in the southwest in between the two amber areas. Hoping my garden fences survive.
School is only 5 mins up the road for us and I'm glad we don't have to drive (may get a text to say they're shut in the morning anyway though.) I think a taxi could be more dangerous.

Yellows are usually nothing, but amber and red weather warnings need paying attention to.

You are probably at much less risk walking than driving. Judge on the morning - you'll be able to tell if it's too windy to walk, although keep an eye on whether the forecast predict things to be worse for the afternoon.

sorry you are not making any sense to me at all, you are used to these winds and its no big deal and we are making a fuss about nothing, and your winds are in fact mega dangerous but you don't think anyone should be warned.......

I really think you need to take a step back - or perhaps learn how to read and comprehend.

I initially agreed with a poster that having warnings for normal weather patterns is a waste of time, and can frighten some people. You have completely made up the rest of your story. NOT ONCE did I say anyone was making a fuss about nothing, I was referring to weather warnings IN MY COUNTRY. I also never said our winds are mega dangerous - we get them every year, we are used to trees falling and minor damage, and no we don't need a coloured warning, just a heads up that it is going to be windy, which we always got in a normal weather forecast.

Sheeeesh!! You are hard work.

We were in a yellow warning area in Surrey and it was eerily quiet most of the night. The dog was restless though and in the morning local friends had lost roof tiles and local A roads had trees down.

@Shutthedoormargaret thank you- we're actually at Butlin's Bognor Regis so not literally staying on the seafront but are close!

Is that where the Tesco always floods?

Put a coat on

That must be where pekoe on Hersey went wrong....No coats on.

I think so- we stopped off at Tesco Chichester for supplies before our holiday and the lady on the checkout mentioned that the Tesco in Bognor had flooded.

I think it's famous for it.
