Taking your own bags in same store -embarrassing incident

Not really sure where to put this and can’t really talk about in RL as it’s a non-issue so will look crazy but on here I’m wondering what others would do. I have anxiety so I do worry about everything! Went to B and M yesterday with the kids just to pick up cheap halloween stuff. I had my own bags with me (for the same store). Started packing and woman said it’s x for the bags (can’t remember amount) I said no they’re my bags I brought from home, she sounded unsure then to top it off my 8 year old says “mummy you picked the bags from here!” She probably saw they were the same. I got flustered and told the cashier “look you can see my bags are crumpled so they’re from home”. Lol! Next time I’ll take different bags in, not had that before and yes I know it’s a non issue before anyone likes on just wanted to share my embarrassing moment 🙈

If I could refer you back to my correction post. I wasn't being rude. I was being to the point to reassure the OP.

I opened a bag for life at the checkout and it had underpants and socks in it, DH had used it to bring the washing in. 🙄

That's why when you walk in a store you hold your bags aloft jangling them around for the security camera to spot you. 😂

If there is a problem with plastic and the environment then stop making them... or does the tax offset this damage somehow? How is the plastic bags sitting in the store less damaging to the environment than when someone buys the bag?

Disposable plastic bag use is down 95% since the charge was introduced. So it’s about the behaviour the fee has rather than the fee itself

Imagine if MN introduced a 5p fee to post a comment. There would be certainly hugely less activity on here.

This week I took Waitrose bags in to aldi. I felt so pretentious 😂

Well done for standing your ground even though you felt anxious. Children do pipe up with the most unhelpful comments at times.

Not wrong at all @Iwasafool, the supermarkets have had free reign with their prices during the CoL crisis and used to their advantage, even the budget ones, so it's great to get a small extra back and passing it on.

I write on/ in mine with sharpie. They're all crumpled, are from various shops, and usually lined with receipts.

You get at least half of your daughters Halloween stash for trying to grass you up.

I was in Tesco a few weeks ago doing scan and shop or whatever it's called and was selected for a random bag check. The worker came along scanned my items then asked if the bags were my own or from the shop I said they are my own. She then warned me that the alarm would go off if they were from the shop and I hadn't scanned them 🙄 so basically insinuating she didn't believe me and also lying to me to me that the alarm would go off if I hadn't paid for them!

A woman in a small newsagents tried to charge my friend for a bottle of water she was drinking. They didn't even stock that brand!!

I'm about to donate a big box of catfood my bloody cats won't eat. I hadn't though of problems bringing it in to the shop!

I’m always so pleased with myself when I remember my bags. And say, “I’ve brought my own!” with such pride, it’s like I’ve invented electricity or something 😁

I found a piece of ginger at the bottom of my reusable bag whilst at a Tesco express checkout, I mentioned it in case she thought I'd nicked it but she said oh it's ok we don't sell that type of garlic here! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I forgot my bags the other day and had to buy one in tesco. Was then shocked to have to hand it over to get the security tag taken off it! Not so shocked now after reading this!

My son told me the other day he was 'mortified' that I brought my set of three tesco trolley bags into aldi to do a shop.

Don't they give you them from under the till anyway?

If I'm using a trolley I always pack my shopping into bags at the car, so rarely take them in. If I'm using a basket I try and carry everything or often have a rucksack

'Thought' clothing have really good string bags. As you say they fit so much in.
And there's a sale on at the mo!
