It's that time of year again......light on, curtains open....AIBU?

to think that if you put your indoor lights on and leave your curtains open, you are actively saying "I do not mind if you look into my house", most especially if your house is straight onto the street as most around me are.

My mother says that its rude to look, which is bollocks by the way as she loves a right old nose, but she thinks she is being subtle. Whereas my sister is more like me, its fair game if you dont shut your curtains and we are both shameless with our gawping.

If they didnt want me having a good old nose, they'd shut the blinds, right?!

Strictly curtains closed here when the lights go on!

But there is a road a few miles away which is famous (locally) for their Christmas tree displays from mid-December onwards. They're quite big, detached houses, many with bay windows, and they all have their tree in the window. It's lovely.

Soon after we moved in, a woman was walking past and was so fixedly, head swivellingly staring in that she walked into the back of a parked car. DD coukdny stop laughing for ages after....

I always look on purpose

I love having a nosey in other people's houses through the window. I don't want to see them, just inside their houses 😅 The ones leaving their curtains open, who live on a road near traffic lights, so you get to stop and really have a good nose, are just asking for it!

i always leave my curtains open, I live in a fairly quiet road and don’t mind, if the odd passer-by looks in!
I also find it quite claustrophobic, if I ever close my curtains.

Just to add, all bedroom curtains are close, when we go to bed!

I find it impossibly cosy and comforting to seei the warm lights and people living their lives. I have no idea why it makes me feel happy and all is well with the world.
