What alcoholic drink for no hangover?!

C1239 · 21/10/2023 18:35

Ive not drank for a while just because I hate the hangovers, I’m early 40s now and just don’t know if I can’t drink anymore?! With Christmas coming up though I’d like to have the option even if it’s just one or two without writing off the next 2 days! Which drinks would you recommend for no hangover?!

well only guaranteed drinks for no hangover are non alcoholic. But gin and tonic is far better for me than wine or fizz. And drink plenty of water.

wizzbitt · 21/10/2023 18:41

Jack Daniels and coke does it for me. I've been drinking it since bar work in my 20s. Am 47 now. No hangover and not crazily drunk either. My teeth could possibly be in better condition though

CeriB82 · 21/10/2023 18:42

I drink single vodka and tonic.

them switch to soda water. Looks the same.

i hate going out now, do that’s my go to drink if I have something at home

Spacecowboys · 21/10/2023 18:43

Gin with lemonade, not tonic.

Stokey · 21/10/2023 18:44

Anything colourless works better for me. Wine and fizz are the worst. But really all in moderation. I find if I have 2 or 3 G&Ts I'm pretty much ok the next day, anything more and I'm hanging.

Onthelastdayofseptember · 21/10/2023 18:44

I think clear spirits are meant to be best ie gin, vodka. But I guess it depends how much you drink!

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 21/10/2023 18:44

Babysham a snowball ?

DickJagger · 21/10/2023 18:45

Spirits for me, with coke or lemonade and not the diet version.

I'd rather drink wine and suffer the hangover though :-)

saltinesandcoffeecups · 21/10/2023 18:45

Gin and club soda for me… but good gin (not bar rail).

I’d avoid mixers with caffeine as they will add to the dehydration. And alternate, 🍸, 💧 , 🍸, 💧

LadyTrunchbull · 21/10/2023 18:46

The more mixer the more hydration. That's how I see it. It's easy to drink wine and not have a separate soft drink to hydrate so something that combines both is a winner.

SM4713 · 21/10/2023 18:48

Some people find that things with more tannins give them more of a hangover- so red wine and darker spirits. Stick to clear alcohol. Having a non-alcoholic drink between each alcoholic one helps a great deal too.

There are also these tabs which seemed to work really well when I was in Australia many years ago. Not sure if they ship to the UK, but I have seen them on UK ebay.

I can drink Bacardi and White wine probably too much TBH without a hangover!
Gin, Champagne leaves me with awful hangiety!

swirlingabyss · 21/10/2023 18:53

I think it depends on what your body is used to in a way. I had red wine for first time in ages and it gave me a terrible hangover. But in the past have been fine with it. It's like I build a tolerance with certain drinks if I drink them often enough but that's not an ideal situation. Gin is usually pretty good though.

therealcookiemonster · 21/10/2023 18:56

fruit juice. usually self ferments in fridge if left a few days. but you will get sugar high, then slump

bonzaitree · 21/10/2023 18:58

Single g and t then switch to tonic.

you shouldn’t have a 2 day hangover after 2 glasses of wine though!

BethDuttonsTwin · 21/10/2023 19:01

I don't really drink any more just the occasional glass of champagne but when I did, I drank vodka and fresh orange and never got hangovers - all the vitamin C I guess.

BlondeFool · 21/10/2023 19:02

Vodka lime and soda = no hangover for me.

Sadly I love white wine too much and I'm seriously hungover today 🤢

violetcuriosity · 21/10/2023 19:04

Vodka lime and soda.

But, let's face it after that first sip of wine you're a bottle down before you know it 🤣

NevergonnagiveHughup · 21/10/2023 19:09

G&T with lots of T.

Livedandlearned · 21/10/2023 19:15

Chlorella and spirulina are meant to prevent a hangover if taken correctly.

CesareBorgia · 21/10/2023 19:17

Personally, I can drink several pints of Guinness and be fine. Not other beers, just Guinness.

UndercoverCop · 21/10/2023 19:17

Single grey goose, lots of soda water and fresh limes

Ponderingwindow · 21/10/2023 19:20

Vodka, whisky, or tequila are my standards. Basically the liquor of your choice in moderation and balanced with plenty of water. 8 ounces of water or other purely hydrating beverage for every unit of alcohol consumed.

no artificial sweeteners and keeping sugar to a minimum also helps.

Strugglingtodomybest · 21/10/2023 19:26

Vodka

Libertass · 21/10/2023 19:27

In general, it’s the quantity of alcohol you consume which is responsible for the degree of dehydration & severity of the hangover. Drinking at least a pint of water before bed definitely helps.

Having said that, I find I feel worse after drinking red wine than I do after drinking anything else. I assume that’s due to the tannins etc, which is a shame because I love the stuff.
