If you had the covid booster, did you have any side effects?

Had mine yesterday. Feel a bit off today, tired and heavy and slightly achey as if I could be coming down with something. Hoping it will pass off quickly and not get worse!

How are people generally finding the booster affects them this year?

Well this thread is cheering me up as I've been dreading getting my booster in a week's time. Every single one so far has knocked me out for at least two weeks of shivers, sweats, body aches and bed rest. Been fine on the flu jab though, not even a sore arm.

Libertass · 20/10/2023 22:11

I had both my flu & covid boosters last week. Flu : no side effects at all. Covid : I had a slightly sore arm for 48 hours.

Tiredmum100 · 20/10/2023 22:30

I had both yesterday afternoon. One sore arm (had both the infections in the same arm). Glands have been a bit sore, legs are aching, and I felt really sick this morning.

Notcookie · 20/10/2023 22:34

Mild headache, slightly sore arm and night sweats for me.

DominoBlue · 20/10/2023 22:50

I will NEVER EVER have a Moderna vaccine again. Had 5 so far and only the Moderna has given me horrendous side effects. I lose days of my life to getting over it. I almost walked out when she said it was Moderna but convinced myself it would be ok. I'm due an operation any day and worried I might be refused if vaccines not up to date. Worst idea.
First night, dead arm and lump gradually growing under arm, glands up in neck and a head ache getting worse and worse. During night, so thirsty, fever and chills started building, sweating until clothes wet but freezing cold. Frozen to touch. During the night sent some weird texts to people, like I was delirious, talking about people who were dead etc.
Next morning unable to get up, needed help to get to toilet. Unbelievable thirsty. Aching, sick, diarrhea and blinding headache, which was just like having Covid before the vaccines were made. If you have ever taken steroids and experienced the muscle ache its like that but 10 times worse. Couldn't eat as teeth hurt too badly to chew. Couldn't taste anything. Think someone has been sticking knitting needles into my ears. But the thing that hasn't gone yet is the noise in my ears. It feels like someone is crunching crinkly carrier bags right next to my ears, whilst screaming. I have to have a radio on or some noise playing 24 hours to try to block it out. Still sweating whilst freezing and teeth still hurt. Dizziness back, same as after Covid, don't want to see Dr in case they stop me driving again. But the bloody noise in my ears is unreal. Supposed to have my flu jab tomorrow but no way would I risk driving. The only thing that is working on the muscle aching is Oramorph taken with Paracetamol.
I wouldn't let my kids or other family had Moderna now. I will lie in front of the car if necessary.

UmbrellaEllaEh · 20/10/2023 22:55

I had flu and covid at the same time. No effects whatsoever.

BinkyBeaufort · 20/10/2023 22:57

I've just had flu vaccine, pneumonia and Covid booster over 2 days. My only problem is not being able to sleep on either left or right side due to achy arms.

NahNahKissHimGoodbye · 20/10/2023 22:58

Nausea diarrhoea and muscle pain. Gone after 24 hours.

2023shady · 20/10/2023 22:59

A bit flu like overnight but I had flu and covid vaccine together so not sure which

DisquietintheRanks · 20/10/2023 23:00

What are you on about @DominoBlue . You don't have to lie down anywhere, you can just say "no thank you" and leave. Or not go at all. No need for histrionics.

Notmetoo · 20/10/2023 23:01

Nothing apart from an achy arm which I always get whenever I have vaccinations

AyeOopDuck · 20/10/2023 23:04

@CesareBorgia I have my booster booked next week, the Astra zeneca made me feel awful, so your post was good to read.

forcedgeneric · 20/10/2023 23:06

Flu jab- fine, Pfizer booster about 24hours of grottiness - sore head, achy muscles and fluctuating temperature. Fine afterwards, no underlying health conditions (although being looked at for ? thyroid issues). Work in healthcare so have had the vaccine since it was first introduced

KimberleyClark · 20/10/2023 23:11

Not eligible for autumn covid booster but have had the flu one, and felt a bit off the day after.

NameO · 20/10/2023 23:19

Had covid and flu yesterday (for work)

Slight headache yesterday, rubbish night sleep as very flu like aches.

Felt unwell today with nausea, fatigue (fell asleep earlier which is unheard of).

Sore arms as expected and still nauseous, I'm hoping it passes soon.

Nothing really. Arm a bit sore the next day where the jab went in but I didn't feel a thing when they did it.

SuperSue77 · 20/10/2023 23:38

I had both Covid and flu vaccinations at the same time in the same arm - genius suggestion of the pharmacist so that I had one good arm to lie on in bed! Injected arm wasn’t that sore though and no other side effects, had them over a week ago. So grateful to the NHS for enabling me to have this protection.

bluetongue · 21/10/2023 00:12

The Covid booster made me really unwell. High temperature and sore skin all over. It even hurt to brush my hair! Flu shots have only ever given me a sore arm. My dad also reacts badly to the Covid shots.

I’ve decided not to have Amy more Covid boosters at this time.

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 21/10/2023 00:15

Achey, stiff arm for a couple of days.

MabelQ · 21/10/2023 00:35

Got mine yesterday evening and tonight I’m still in bed, slightly elevated temperature, but my arm stopped hurting about 18hrs in to the point where I could put weight on it in bed. I suspect most of how I’ve felt (other than the flushed/warm/mild “fever”) is due to being 25wks pregnant and therefore only able to sleep a certain way all night! Hope you feel better!!

You seem rather challenged on that particular level yourself.

Personally I was knocked out for 2 weeks straight but appreciate that probably isn’t the norm.

My first jab caused headaches and shivers and shakes for 5 days, the second the same for 3 days, paracetamol and ibuprofen made it quite bearable. I had a booster last January and I was knocked for six, for about 2 weeks.

Ill with headaches, fever and dizziness. It was probably 3 months before I felt normal, everything just exhausted me. I wish I'd been on Zoe.

Sceptre86 · 21/10/2023 04:02

Had both covid and flu vaccination in the same arm. Only experienced tenderness at the site.
