AIBU to steal the cat

ChilliNoodleGoodness · 20/10/2023 13:08

I know IABU and I would never do it but I feel so sorry for it.

A neighbour of mine has a few cats, one of which became pregnant and had kittens. One of the kittens she kept has gone on to have her own kittens - she is so small too.

She gave birth a few months back and is pregnant again! She is covered in fleas and worms and always crying outside peoples houses.

Have asked Cats Protection for advice and they have provided me with details of cheap neutering which I have anonymously posted through her door.

Part of me wants to just take the cat to the vets and get her treatment and have her speyed but I know in real life that is not the best thing to do :(

WWYD?

Excellent work, OP.

It's never right to leave a cat uncared for and unneutered. The state some of them are in by the time someone acts is horrific.

Superhair · 02/11/2023 15:54

Well done op. I wouldn’t worry what the daft cow thinks of you, at least she’s knows you’re looking out for the welfare of her cat and hopefully that will keep her on her toes.

AnneValentine · 02/11/2023 15:55

You can’t take her now. They will have chipped when they speyed.

TurquoiseThings · 02/11/2023 16:25

I'm so glad you managed to get her to the vet @ChilliNoodleGoodness
There is a similar situation here so I was wondering how much it cost you to take her to the vet and get treatment? Did you pretend she was yours or say she was a stray/neighbours cat?

ChilliNoodleGoodness · 02/11/2023 16:35

@TurquoiseThings I paid a £60 consultation/check up. I bought worming tablets but didn't want to flea her in case her owner already has/about to as it can be dangerous to double dose. Will keep an eye on her flea situation

I said she was a stray - explained the situation

Yes, I would help the cat (if I could afford it). And get it sneakily neutered asap.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 02/11/2023 16:40

I missed you update. Well done, OP!

the poor cats :(

TurquoiseThings · 02/11/2023 17:27

Thanks for the info OP, much appreciated

Datafan55 · 02/11/2023 19:18

At least the poor little thing has been spayed.
And... there are worst things to be disliked for than helping a cat.

Well done OP :-)

WickedSerious · 02/11/2023 19:25

Do it,my friend stole a doberman that was being mistreated and the woman who lives next door to my sister is always grabbing cats and getting them 'done'.

WickedSerious · 02/11/2023 19:28

I'm another one who missed the update, well done OP;you've done a good thing.

Verv · 02/11/2023 19:37

100% take the cat.

GreekDogRescue · 02/11/2023 19:39

MidnightOnceMore · 20/10/2023 13:10

You can't do that.

Have you reported the poor care?

There is no ‘can’t’ about it. Please don’t be irresponsible.
This cat needs speying and OP needs to do this for the sake of the cat.

IncompleteSenten · 02/11/2023 19:41

The RSPCA won't give a flying fuck, don't bother trying.

I've reported rabbits being left in a small cage with no water, a dog tied up in a small yard, a boy trying to drown his pet cat and more - all the same family btw. They keep getting pets then they get neglected or they suddenly vanish.

Does the RSPCA do anything? No. They won't even come out.

All the RSPCA cares about is cases that make the TV and getting donations.
