People too lazy to go to top of bus

Finlesswonder · 19/10/2023 11:45

Before you say "oh maybe they have an invisible disability" - I seriously doubt that the bus is full of these twice a day, every day, which is how often I take the bus.

I get on at the terminus so it's empty. Without fail people would rather cram themselves onto the bottom or sometimes even stand than go through the trauma of hauling their asses up to the upper deck.

How bloody lazy are people, it drives me crazy! One girl actually preferred to take the back seat and sit there mouth breathing and facing three of us rather than take 8 steps

Sit upstairs then! Even when I’m carrying bags of heavy shopping I still go straight upstairs because I know the bus will get busier.

I agree some people are lazy and never consider going upstairs but your post is incredibly hypocritical.

lanthanum · 19/10/2023 12:19

You obviously prefer downstairs too. It may not be full when you get on, but you know that it will be, so you are choosing to sit downstairs where it is crowded rather than climb the stairs and have more space. Those getting on later will usually be making a shorter journey, so they're even more willing to put up with the crowded conditions as it's for a shorter time.

Lots of people don’t go upstairs on buses because they don’t feel safe. Nothing to do with fitness or laziness, they want to be near the driver and the door.

Lol, your bus sounds empty to me. Sometimes people stand?? the horror.

Iwasafool · 19/10/2023 12:21

I was on the top deck of a bus going to work. A car jumped the red light, bus driver stood on his brakes as I got to the top of stairs as we were approaching my bus stop. I was in hospital for 5 days with concussion and damaged vertebrae. I prefer to stay on the lower deck. You can judge me if you like.

Beezknees · 19/10/2023 12:23

You don't sit on the top deck but you want other people too? Right.

Theredjellybean · 19/10/2023 12:24

Travel sickness...why should I go upstairs and feel sick...you go on up there OP

Lovehearts82 · 19/10/2023 12:24

It's almost as if, you aren't the only person on this planet 🤣🤦‍♀️

Toddlerteaplease · 19/10/2023 12:24

I never go to the top deck out of habit. When I was a kid that was where the smokers were and it's stuck!

Superhair · 19/10/2023 12:26

Don’t use the bus much these days, but would avoid upstairs as my memory of bus drivers is they don’t seem to care that you’re trying to climb stairs while they’re swinging round corners and slamming their brakes on and I don’t fancy a repeat when trying to get downstairs in time for my stop either.

WhatNoRaisins · 19/10/2023 12:26

For me it's a hangover from the school bus, you always had the scariest people on the top deck.

That's awful. I got off lightly with my fall. I hope you've made a full recovery

TragicMuse · 19/10/2023 12:28

So what if people are lazy? So what if they don't have a disability? So what if they just don't want to sit upstairs?

So fucking what?

TrixieFatell · 19/10/2023 12:28

Person sitting on bottom floor of double decker bus complaining about people sitting on bottom floor of double decker bus. Edgy.

Thank you. I am pretty much recovered but still get some twinges in my back if I lift anything heavy. The concussion was rough, I've never vomited so much in my life.

HilaryWank · 19/10/2023 12:32

When I was 16, I slid down the stairs on a bus when it braked suddenly.

My skirt went up around my ears revealing 'granny pants' (a huge no-no in the early 00s when it was thongs all the way) and I face-planted into one of the poles chipping a tooth. All in front of the boy I'd had a crush on since I was 11.

I haven't been upstairs on a bus since.

kitsuneghost · 19/10/2023 13:11

That is weird
I thought top deck was more popular

If I saw the bottom deck busy I would assume it is because upstairs is full so stay put.
