To be absolutely fuming at my son

His friend stayed last night. I couldn’t find my toothbrush today. Turns out it was in his bathroom - he allowed his friend to use it. I feel a disgusted but so angry. Not sure if he should be grounded or just the friend never stays ever again. He’s 12.

I'm impressed that two 12 year old boys are so diligent about their oral hygiene. Fair play to them!

Yes it's discusting.

But they are 12! I very much doubt they thought it through beyond needing a toothbrush.

In fact - I'm impressed they even thought to brush their teeth!

My thought exactly!

Tell him to replace it and make it clear it never happens again. Remind him your bedroom and bathroom are off limits and if he can't respect those rules he isn't allowed friends over.

Blimey. Chill out. It's only a toothbursh.

MargaretThursday · 16/10/2023 22:54

I'd just be amazed they'd bothered to brush their teeth at all.
What's next? A shower without nagging?

ToadOnTheHill · 16/10/2023 22:58

Ffs just buyback nee one and some spares for when he has friends over.

How do you think your relationship will be with him as an adult if you get furious every 5 minutes

CowboyJoanna · 16/10/2023 22:58

YANBU.
Tell him to buy you a new one, that's gross Envy

Universalsnail · 16/10/2023 23:08

Just buy a new toothbrush? I don't think it's a huge deal be it a bit inconvenient. Definitely not something to be seriously angry about or stop his friend staying.
