To worry about getting covid and flu jab on the same day?

I had this last year and felt off for a day but otherwise ok, same as ds who is 17 but has health issues.
This year now had lots of people in RL saying they wouldn't do that, that it's potentially dangerous. Anyone have any insight?

I had it and it was fine. Much less impact than earlier covid jabs. Good luck.

Nacknick · 11/10/2023 07:34

I had both of mine together a couple of weeks ago. Barely noticed it.

KrisAkabusi · 11/10/2023 07:35

You encounter hundreds of diseases just by walking around all day and your body copes. It's no different to getting the MMR or any other multiple vaccination.

Totaly · 11/10/2023 07:37

I wouldn’t personally. Walked into a chemist and has my flu jab a few weeks ago.

I had it earlier because of a holiday coming up and didn’t want a reaction close to going away.

MrsFinkelstein · 11/10/2023 07:37

I've had this - it's absolutely fine.

Your immune system is more than able to cope with this incredibly minor stress compared to what it faces on a daily basis with you just living your life surrounded by the general public.

SoundTheSirens · 11/10/2023 07:37

I wouldn’t, but only because I react very badly to intramuscular injections and wouldn’t be able to cope with either having both arms out of action for a couple of days or potentially having even more pain than usual in one arm, but if you don’t have that issue then go for it.

PinkFootstool · 11/10/2023 07:37

I won't have them together, as both make me unwell for a few days, so I prefer not to have to take to my bed with the double whammy! Both jabs have always made me feel like that, but Covid really kicks me with my chronic illnesses so I don't want to avoid the jab.

ReviewingTheSituation · 11/10/2023 07:38

My DH did and it was fine. Much easier than faffing around going to the vac clinic twice.

What are the medical qualifications of those claiming it is 'dangerous' - are they medically qualified vaccine/virus specialists?

Or are they people who read some rubbish on Facebook?

You have to analyse the source of the opinion.

WhereWhoWhen · 11/10/2023 07:39

It's recommended by my surgery for ease and to get it done. The miniscule stress on your immune system will be fine compared to getting either.

I've had both of mine together for the last two years and no impact here other than sore arms for a few days.

What would be dangerous about it?

LetItGoHome · 11/10/2023 07:40

What could be potentially dangerous with it? What area of medicine do these friends work to have such insights into it?

deflatedbirthday · 11/10/2023 07:42

I had both yesterday. Today my arms ache and I feel a bit rubbish but nothing to stop me going about as usual. I have chronic illnesses.

Ponoka7 · 11/10/2023 07:43

Me and my partner are getting them separately this year just because we felt so rough last year. We've got both right on our doorstep. I just like a side to sleep on without my arm hurting as well. If it isn't a hassle I'd have them done about five days a part. I don't want my flu too early anyway otherwise you aren't as well protected in Feb/March when were I live everyone seems to get flu.

LetItGoHome · 11/10/2023 07:43

I had mine on the same day. The vaccine developers think it's fine. The CCG medicines management team have cleared it as safe and the HCP administering it advised it was fine. So I took my chances 😃

Catsmere · 11/10/2023 07:44

Mum (who's 90) and I had the shots simultaneously six months ago. Neither of us had any reaction apart from feeling a bit blech for the day, just the normal flu shot stuff.

billyt · 11/10/2023 07:44

I not only had my flu and covid vaccinations at the same time, the bastards hit me with an MMR booster.

I was told when I booked my flu that they were doing Covid ones at the same time.

Apart from achy arms the next day I was fine.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 11/10/2023 07:45

I’m NHS, our Trust are doing them together for staff so I’m having them both today. More convenient for me and hopefully I’ll feel okay. Usually feel a little crap after.

Azaeleasinbloom · 11/10/2023 07:47

I had them together, slight headache, stiff upper arm, otherwise fine. DH had them , full on dressing-gown of doom time.
🤔

Mrsjayy · 11/10/2023 07:47

Are medical professionals telling you its dngerous what are they saying happens ? I mean you were fine last year what changed ?

Mrsjayy · 11/10/2023 07:49

I mean I had the duo last year felt a bit off a few days after like most people and you.

Can I ask why you had MMR booster? I've never had MMR. I has mumps as a child and the Rubella vaccine but not measles. Wondering if I should get it. I'm late 40s!

Sidge · 11/10/2023 07:51

It’s not dangerous to give them together. We wouldn’t do it if it was 🙄

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/10/2023 07:54

I had both mine at the same time. I had them in the same arm. 36 hours later I felt a little fluey for a few hours, but not enough to stop me from working. dh didn't even feel fluey.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 11/10/2023 07:55

I had mine together two weeks ago. Was not well and felt dreadful for 3 days.

my parents were the same.

BaconAndAvocado · 11/10/2023 07:56

My parents, who are both in their late 70s, had both on the same day.

My mum felt a bit fluey on the evening of the jabs but woke up fine.
Dad absolutely fine.
