What’s with the obsession with food?

So many threads about:
What shall I have for dinner?
Any ideas for some healthy dinners?
Blah blah blah food!

Am I the only person alive that really doesn’t care about food? I eat some kind of cereal/ yogurt combo for breakfast, sometimes forget lunch, whoops, and don’t even think about dinner other than ‘mmm bit peckish, what’s in the freezer?!’

Is this a ‘thing’ or am I abnormal? The world seems obsessed with food doesn’t it? I just eat to not die basically, what am I missing?

I agree with you OP. Food is a very small part of my life. I enjoy what I eat, but only in the same way as if a good song comes on the radio. A brief passing pleasure, but not something I anticipate, think about afterwards or structure my day around. I have no desire to eat as part of a social occasion and on holidays and days out would rather fit in something else to do or see than 'a nice meal'.
The trouble with saying this is that because food is so emotive and attitudes towards it linked to steteotyped chatacter traits around greed/self indulgence on one hand, and joylessness/superiority on the other, it tends to go down badly to say so.

Well that escalated quickly!
Apologies to anyone I offended, I certainly wasn’t being goady so I’m sorry if it came across that way. Thank you for the (very few) people that didn’t find me offensive. I hope you have a nice day.

Off to eat some Scampi Fries and continue working on my new novel…
