To want it to be colder...?

Lollyloup89 · 07/10/2023 11:46

I'm post-natal and getting hot really easily. Not only this but my busy body neighbours come alive (too much) when the sun's out and I was looking forward to the colder weather so I didn't have to see/hear them so much for a few months!
Maybe I am a miserable old cow but I wish it would get cold!!

OP posts:
littleblackcat27 · 07/10/2023 13:25

17 degrees here. Warm but too humid/damp to dry clothes outside. Grrrr

Comedycook · 07/10/2023 13:25

Dark cold mornings
Getting dark early
Cold weather or damp cold rainy days

Genuinely amazed people actively enjoy this. All these things make me feel depressed. I find the dark really awful for my mental health

natura · 07/10/2023 13:48

36 degrees where I live right now, and no sign of it dropping for at least another couple of weeks.

I feel your pain, OP. I'm so, so done.

I love winter time always have .
Dark cold mornings .
Getting dark early .
Cold weather or damp cold rainy days .
Frost fog love it
I do like spring time though

Mind you i suffer with migraines and the above weather i dont have half as many.
I dont hate summer but i dont like its too hot not a fan of heat or bright sun.

Oh frost fog! I'd forgotten about that. I'll see plenty on my drive to work soon, with any luck.
Now actually noticing it getting darker earlier, which means less glare from the sun too. ☺️

ilovesooty · 07/10/2023 14:02

Why would anyone who has to drive to work welcome fog?

Me too.......autumn is my favourite.

I'm not a fan of spring.

Why are there a couple of posters who hate winter on the thread purely to pick on most posts that state they don't? I didn't go on the threads during summer questioning every poster that stated what they liked about the heat.

I'm totally ready for the cooler weather to kick in. I love Autumn. Cosy nights in infront of the fire while it's raining outside are my favourite.

And so glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys the winter months because it means not seeing the neighbours for awhile.

Can hear kids out there now kicking a poxy ball. Some geezer coughing his guts up. Other kids doing wheelies up the road. At least it’s dark early now. Lovely

PinkAtTheEndOfTheDrove · 07/10/2023 14:11

I’m absolutely fed up of it too. I’m longing for proper cold. Fed up of my Prosecco live-laugh-love neighbour and her braying friends.

RampantIvy · 07/10/2023 14:11

I want to come home and put a candle on and snuggle up under a blanket

I agree with this being a peak mumsnet comment Grin

Doesn't anyone see the irony in this? They like cold weather because they hate the heat, then they need to snuggle under a blanket to get warm. How about it being warm enough to just not need a blanket in the first place?

Spot the mumsnetter who doesn't drive to work, and who doesn't get stuck on the motorway behind another pile up caused by freezing fog Hmm

Today is probably the last warm day, so I am going to make the most of it and go out for a bike ride. I also have washing out on the line. It will smell fabulous when I bring it in.

Is there some way I've breached the talk guidelines?

The OP asked AIBU to want it to be colder? That question, posted in AIBU, doesn't preclude an alternative viewpoint.

Blueolivio · 07/10/2023 14:12

I’m loving it, we’ve just got back from the beach ☀️🕶. Same again tomorrow!

AIBU requires a yes or no answer. My answer is yes The OP is BU Grin

Don't worry, we'll soon have months of misery, cold, rainy and dark. I feel depressed even thinking about it”

Feel free to say told you so in March but I don’t think we will. Dark and wet, yes, probably windy, but I suspect not cold. We have things blooming now in our garden that have never bloomed twice and second sets of ducklings and gull chicks (really little ones, in October). Sincerely hope for their sakes that I’m right!

Alika · 07/10/2023 14:16

@RampantIvy I'm not the poster you quoted, but I agreed with their comment about liking fog. I live and (drive to) work rurally... pile ups are generally caused by people not taking enough care driving in the fog. I've struggled when I couldn't see more than half a foot, at most, in front of me, so had to drive at a snail's pace and sound the horn on blind corners, but that much fog isn't really the norm. If people are driving to the conditions with due care and attention, accidents will always happen, but they shouldn't be happening in much higher volumes.

Bbq1 · 07/10/2023 14:17

ilovesooty · 07/10/2023 13:09

It's been cold here with intermittent rain for days.

Plenty of cold dark days to come to satisfy the summer haters.

Roll on March.

I don't think people who want the seasons to be clearly defined are summer haters. It's October therefore it should be chilly and Autumnal now. I enjoy all the seasons for different reasons. It's alsu concerning that month on month seems to ve the warmest on record so ww need it to cool down fast.

GCSister · 07/10/2023 14:17

Wrong! My commute involves driving over the Pennines too.

Doesn't stop me loving the smell and feel of autumn and winter though.

No, but you weren't answering the OP.
Of course you can post what you like, but it feels like every time I (or someone else posts that they like winter, it's met with "I'm baffled as to why!" "Why do you WANT it to be cold?" "I like the heat, I don't understand why others don't!" and so on.

ilovesooty · 07/10/2023 14:31

OK. I'll answer the OP explicitly then.

YANBU to want it to be colder if that's how you feel.

YABU if you were to think that everyone shares that opinion.

I hope that's satisfactory.

Sailawaytocromer · 07/10/2023 14:32

I agree with PP a who said the seasons are welcomed as distinct seasons. It’s more than 20 degrees here today (south) and we’re all in shorts and T-shirts. I’m really hot actually. I much prefer winter and autumn and I’m impatient for autumn to start.

eandz13 · 07/10/2023 14:46

I'm with you OP - cold, dark and gloomy is my favourite weather.
Crispy brown leaves everywhere
Foggy streetlights
Crisp, fresh, cold air
Wooly blankets, fire on, cup of hot chocolate
Neighbours that stop burning their stinking rubbish in their fire bin outside because apparently the only time they want to do that is when it's hot enough for everyone to need a window open...

Oooof. Can't wait.

cheezncrackers · 07/10/2023 14:53

I agree OP - a few degrees cooler would be great! I'm training for a half marathon and thought I'd be able to train this time in the cool of autumn, but it's 21 degrees.

DC play rugby and it's rubbish playing a winter sport in summer temps.

MiniGinny · 07/10/2023 15:05

I wouldn’t mind if it was sunny & dry, or at least a bit sunny.
it’s very humid & overcast. Yucky damp dullness.

PinkiOcelot · 07/10/2023 15:12

I’m in the north east. It’s grey, cloudy and blooming cold today. I hate it.

RampantIvy · 07/10/2023 15:16

Woolly blankets, fire on, cup of hot chocolate

I get that people don't like summer weather but if you prefer the cold why do you need a blanket if the ambient temperature is your preferred temperature?
