You know what I mean, where there's a thread and someone posts something like..

and someone else replies with a

Is it just me or do you sometimes find it a bit off-putting....?

well it's like how you insert a hyperlink in html when writing web pages so it might come from that

(e.g. putting fab site
would bring up 'fab site' as a link you could click to go to mumsnet)

BoysAreLikeDogs · 06/03/2008 16:42

Fab thread, Puppymonkey

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 06/03/2008 16:42

I, being very very clever, do of course know why. But I shall not tell you as I am also socially inept and incapable of explaining anything.

bundle · 06/03/2008 16:43

who is this puppymonkey?

LittleWonder · 06/03/2008 16:45

I find I want to do that in non-MN emails, and use the little faces as well.

Am I or what?

Mercy · 06/03/2008 16:47

Oliveoil is the queen of < > imo. Maybe she started it?

And Motherinferior uses initial capitals really well too.

NorthernLurker · 06/03/2008 16:47

Has this thing kicked off yet?

Emprexia · 06/03/2008 16:48

They're called action brackets.. and were started by people who do MUSH role-play online.

::grins and runs off having shared that random bit of useless information::

Lazycow · 06/03/2008 16:50

I don't have any thing funny to say - just that I mostly really like it when someone does this. It usually creates a picture for me and makes me laugh

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2008 16:50

Mush my arse! What's MUSH then???

OP posts:
SmartAlec · 06/03/2008 16:52

I thought MUSH was what dog sledge runners shouted at their hounds.

Cute little furry paws, waving, waving, waving...

VictorianSqualor · 06/03/2008 16:53

Sometimes you need other things apart from the smileys MN has.

I particularly like the HTML copying of
type arrows.

Also you must remember that they are often posted in jest when a thread has lost its way, you'll rarely see them in a serious thread, it just adds to the atmosphere.
