Mum not answering WhatsApp after breast ultrasound

My mum, 70, had Breast cancer a couple of years ago, luckily it was a very small, slow growing one, she had treatment and was all clear. She recently had her regular check up mammogram and they found a small lump in her armpit, the nurse said she thought it was nothing serious but requested an ultrasound to be sure. I texted my mum this morning asking what time the ultrasound was, she told me the time (1 pm) and sounded fine. I asked her to text me when she was back. I heard nothing off her, so Whatsapped at around 5.30, she saw the message but no reply. My mum generally replies straight back and not being awful but if she’s in, she’s never really busy as it’s just her and dad and they’re retired, she also doesn’t go out in the evening.
I’m prone to worry/anxious thinking about things like this, could they tell if it’s cancerous on an ultrasound and would they tell you that during the ultrasound?
Would you whataspp again or just give her time to come to you?

Posted too soon

So your mum’s experience sounds very reassuring, OP

I would imagine they would have told her if they saw something suspicious and taken biopsies or asked to come for a biopsy. That's what they did for me and biopsy didn't show anything but I was glad it was properly investigated. Does not sound like they asked for that? I would think any lump would be biopsied? But maybe it really didn't look cancerous to them on ultrasound

I work in breast-the post from Moonlight sounds as if she’s from a different country-we don’t have ‘ultrasound techs’ here and consultants and sonographers do their own reporting. If she’s been reassured it’s nothing on ultrasound, I wouldn’t worry. If they saw any area which looked suspicious it would be biopsies. Most people who come for ultrasound get told everything is normal-only if suspicious they sample it and your mum would be told that they need to wait for the results.

Had something worrying show up in ultrasound twice, first time they did a number of biopsies and I waited an hour for test results (not good news).

Second time they did a biopsy and I got good news that time, again around an hour later. They have a lab onsite where they can view it under the microscope I think.

Thanks everyone, she’s ok 🙏
Appointment ran over, then the bus broke down on the way back or something and she was tired and now sat in her watching tv
It showed no signs of cancer, was explained as just something that can find and go (not cancerous) a node in the armpit

So happy for you but I would be so angry at her for not calling!

But OP never calls her mum either.
