Not to give my child Flu jab

Binjob118 · 30/09/2023 19:55

My son is 6 and has been offered the nasal flu jab at school. He has had it the last 2 years and had no problems, but I now feel reluctant to give it to him. Does a healthy child really need this? I have to admit this change in my thinking has come about since the COVID vaccine rollout and the many vaccine injuries that seem to be being ignored by the MSM.

Don't then. Just don't complain if he gets flu or passes it on to a relative who then dies.

HaveSomeIntrospect · 30/09/2023 19:57

Are children being given the Jab to protect the elderly?

BananaSlug · 30/09/2023 19:57

I never do. Never occurred to me to ask MN though. 4 kids always decline it.

BananaSlug · 30/09/2023 19:58

Yes it’s to protect the elderly.

gamerchick · 30/09/2023 19:58

I would t wish flu on anyone, much less a bairn. Prayed for death me.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/09/2023 19:58

YABU but that's your choice to make.

I would never give it, sorry, but giving my child vaccines to protect the elderly is not something i agree with

Curiosity101 · 30/09/2023 19:59

Each to their own but having read the stats I'd rather my kids had the flu vaccine than not. So YABU in my opinion.

budgiegirl · 30/09/2023 20:00

In my opinion, you are being unreasonable. But at the end of the day, it's your child and your choice. But don't underestimate how nasty flu can be, especially in the young, elderly and vulnerable.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/09/2023 20:00

Don't know about the Covid vaccine, but the flu vaccine seems safe. All I can say is, I have the flu vaccine every year with no ill effects. The Covid vaccine made me feel ill almost every time.

Mrsjayy · 30/09/2023 20:00

It's all about immunity rather than your child getting really sick with flu saves it running through classrooms taking it home etc etc, it's up to you though it's just a puff up his nose takes seconds. .

No.
They're being given it because it protects them. Their families. Fewer working days lost. Fewer days of education lost.
The elderly tend to have the jab as they're not as thick as the anti vaxxers.

flitrybewz · 30/09/2023 20:00

It's your choice but I'm mid thirties and had flu two years ago. Genuinely thought I was going to die at one point and I'm pretty healthy. The sickness and diarrhea were next level. I was shocked it was so awful. I now get it every year and for dd.

It isn't to protect the elderly.

User174085934 · 30/09/2023 20:01

It's up to you, I'm not having it and I'm eligible, how can it protect the elderly and vulnerable if half the country aren't eligible for it anyway

Summermeadowflowers · 30/09/2023 20:01

I don’t think I’m going to bother to be honest. My friends children have become quite distressed at having it and if the vaccine isn’t for his direct benefit I won’t be putting him through it.

gemloving · 30/09/2023 20:01

Is everyone who says she's being unreasonable having the flu vaccine themselves then?

I never had the flu vaccine as an adult, nor did I have it as a child, so I wouldn't give it to mine either.

Indeed, the very elderly probably still have horrible memories of people dying of polio and TB.

Yes our whole immediate family have it every year.

Wittow · 30/09/2023 20:02

YABU to call it a "jab" as it's not. It's a nasal spray.

What's your objection exactly?

IslaWinds · 30/09/2023 20:02

The nasal flu vaccine isn’t a jab. It’s a different type of flu vaccine.
It is really your call if he should get it or not.

cherryscola · 30/09/2023 20:02

@gemloving yep, pay for it every year and both my kids have it too.

Blows my mind anyone would risk it when we have vaccines available but to each their own, I really have very low tolerance for anti vaxxers

febbabies2023 · 30/09/2023 20:03

I'm also torn with this. My kids have had all their other vaccines

I say I'm torn because I never get flu. But I had the vaccine last year when I was pregnant and I got the bloody flu.
I guess that's why I'm hesitant but we'll see
