Forcing/manipulating them into friendships then getting angry with them when they don't seem keen on the child you've forced them with? And for context age wise I'm talking roughly 15

Domineering mothers usually a lot of their own issues.
if you want a relationship with her you will need very strong boundaries.
If that doesn’t work you CAN walk away.
Just because she birthed you doesn’t give her automatic rights to abuse you, control your life or dominate it in any way.

I’d say it’s impossible to dictate friendships past the age of about 8

Ive seen this with peers - trying to get their kids not be mates with the ‘rough’ kids. Awful.
