I'm travelling for work and my DH gets a bit jealous so I can't share with him not post on social media about it...

What is it exactly?

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 06:44

Is that all? I'd need to go to the chippy on the way home!

ActuallyYes · 29/09/2023 06:46

Place marking as I want to know what that main course is.

Howlongdoesittake · 29/09/2023 06:41

Not overly impressed with that tbh. Does it taste better than it looks? For Michelin I would expect the broth/jus to not look so sloppily placed. I will probably get slammed for my comments, but if paying Micheliin prices it should look perfect and exquisite.

Totally agree with you, the presentation of that main (not posted by op though?) is not at all on par with the Michelin star places I’ve experienced 😵‍💫 Hope it tasted amazing though!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 29/09/2023 06:51

I was not expecting the main course to look like that! Have they popped a bit of crumble topping on the side there?

I’ve never eaten at a Michelin star restaurant and I thought it would look more elegant…

cheeseandketchupsandwich · 29/09/2023 06:52

You can't share stuff with your DH because he gets jealous? That's a problem

chatenoire · 29/09/2023 07:05

That was another course

Ooh, I’ve been there.
If you’re ever back in the city for work try Adams 👌

Yes do, I went for my 50th birthday.

My companion has a very limited range of foods he eats so they made him his own menu.

Revolutionfrommybed · 29/09/2023 07:19

I agree! We had a Michelin star dining experience and it was exquisitely presented. 12 taster courses. Looks a little bit sloppy on the photo.

Thirding Adams. Got taken by a recruitment agent Grin and it was just amazing. Simpsons is good too, but Adams is somehow another level.

StowOnTheWold · 29/09/2023 06:43

What is it exactly?

At a rough estimate, five chickpeas, a bit of a pig's left cheek, pinch of garden cuttings and some sawdust.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/09/2023 07:35

No table cloth?

feralunderclass · 29/09/2023 08:00

Is anyone else looking at the photos thinking that they haven't missed out on not eating a Michelin star dinner? I'd be heading to Coventry Rd after for a 99p chicken box.

TizerorFizz · 29/09/2023 08:34

Depends which one you go to! I’ve been to quite a few and it’s not just looks. It’s taste too. I’ve never been disappointed and prices vary a lot too. LEnclume will cost a bit but you won’t forget it. Others are more reasonable but we like tasting menus and don’t want to be over full. We don’t do wine flights though.

Littlemissprosecco · 29/09/2023 08:49

Honestly guys, don’t knock it til you’ve tried it!
Especially with the wine flights. Even better if you can get work to pay I guess.

I'm a good cook and there's a limit to how amazing you can make a few chickpeas in a bowl taste. That course looked crap, and I can't imagine it tasted exquisitely either.

TheHorneSection · 29/09/2023 09:25

Fourteen courses with a wine flight at l’Enclume was the best meal I’ve ever eaten in my life. Full of things that sounded rubbish or looked tiny and foods I didn’t normally eat. Seaweed custard with an oyster and beef broth sounds shocking on paper but oh my god, it’s divine.

TizerorFizz · 29/09/2023 15:49

@TheHorneSection I ageee. I think either you like this type of dining experience or it’s not for you. I would highly recommend Aulis London if you loved L’Enclume. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a brilliant experience and seeing the chefs working at close quarters is impressive.

Revolutionfrommybed · 29/09/2023 16:12

I’d never go to L’Enclume as he have heard he has such a bad reputation locally for treating his staff appallingly.

TheHorneSection · 29/09/2023 16:15

I’d love to go to Aulis

I'm thinking this, too. Paying a fortune for an 'experience' that looks like it leaves you hungry? Nah, thanks.

Freezingcoldinseptember · 29/09/2023 16:37

Well my sneaky meal on the sly lasted week was fish and chips with 2 pineapple rings..
Ssh though...

Laiste · 29/09/2023 16:44

I really would expect a table cloth 😳
I don't like bare wood, makes me think of sticky pub tables ...

We have a nice clean cloth at home for our dinners - for £120+ per head i'd want at least what i have at home!

TizerorFizz · 30/09/2023 01:06

@Laiste What difference does a tablecloth make to the food? Some restaurants have them and some don’t. I actually am more critical of cutlery. It’s got to be the right weight and quality for the food. I’ve never experienced anything but an impeccable table in a Michelin starred restaurant.

As Simon Rogon has trained many chefs and is very much involved in keeping the local economy going in his bit of the Lake District, I think he’s a decent employer. He works with the local college too. However these jobs are not easy and some students won’t stick it.

My main course

Sorry but this looks like food that’s been vomited before there’s been a chance to digest it properly
