What is this new hell?! I've tried everything to rid myself of the black squares on my thighs - baby oil, everything, I end up scrubbing until I'm raw! There must be a solution that I'm missing?! My thighs look like a chequerboard!!!

Surgical spirit. One bottle will outlast you.

KneeQuestion · 25/09/2023 16:50

I just wish the fuckers would stay stuck!

I do all the things you’re supposed to but a few hot flushes or a sweaty night and they are off.

KneeQuestion · 25/09/2023 16:51

I get the black squares off with micellar water/make up remover

aSpanielintheworks · 25/09/2023 16:54

I just pick mine under a warm shower! There's always one on the go for a pick admittedly, but never more than one - after a week there's no sign of it any more! Mind you, my stomach overhangs a bit these days so it's a case of 'Out of sight, out of mind' !

DingDongDenny · 25/09/2023 17:01

I must have very dry skin because even scrubbing with a face cloth soaked in nail varnish remover won't shift it. The only thing that works is a long bath or shower and picking at it

I use the patch that I am discarding to remove the black grubby stuff. The glue sticks to the glue IYSWIM? Rub it off that way.

I also do that after reading the tip on here a few months ago. It really works, as does surgical spirit.

TheLaughOfRustyLee · 25/09/2023 17:07

My arse is covered in it now. I've given up trying to get rid of it. I just have to try and find a bare'ish spot for each new patch. My arse looks like the final discount section at the backend of Asda.

Mayonnaise works according to the tv.

I'd try it but I'm happily single so I can't be bothered.

RoseMarigoldViolet · 25/09/2023 17:34

Agree with a poster above, I have trouble getting them to stay on. Is there a secret to it? I follow the instructions carefully but really struggle to keep them on.

SadCelticBunny · 25/09/2023 19:20

DW uses miscellar water sometimes and at other a very soapy flannel.

SalviaDivinorum · 25/09/2023 19:29

I use oil, at the moment it’s avocado but any will do. I rub it in and leave it for a few hours. The glue just rubs off easily

I've tried and tried with this, but it's never taken the old stuff off for me. Annoying ad it would be so much easier

LittleRedFoxy · 25/09/2023 21:40

Almond oil and a cotton wool pad, works a treat

MissSmiley · 25/09/2023 22:13

Dansac EasiSpray Non-Sting Adhesive Remover

They gave me some in hospital for sticky stuff removal, I bought it again on Amazon for my patches black squares

Shadypaws23 · 25/09/2023 22:14

Alcohol wipes work for sticky stuff - they even got a label off shoes that I couldn't budge
Alcohol type hand gel might work too

WiddlinDiddlin · 25/09/2023 22:20

I've tried loads...

Best so far (I use these for Libre sensor and for pain meds patch)...

Tac-away wipes - removes glue without scrubbing, bloody brilliant.

Skin-tac wipes to add sticky if something is lifting before its due to come off or to make an area extra sticky before you stick something down.

Hankunamatata · 25/09/2023 22:21

I stick them on my butt and then I don't notice the patches😳

laloue · 25/09/2023 22:21

I have to have the gel because of other medication…I spend my mornings drying my legs with the hairdryer before I can get dressed for work …different faff, but a faff nonetheless!

Passthecake30 · 25/09/2023 22:22

Just tried miscellar water and alcohol sanitizer, it faded my square from yesterdays removal but it’s not gone. I tend to pick mine off while going to the loo… might get some wipes!

Hankunamatata · 25/09/2023 22:24

To get them to stick. I wash area with soap not shower gel as leaves a residue. Make sure skin is dry and importantly don't touch sticky side. Press then blast with hairdryer. Mine only stay on my upper butt, they peel off my thighs, stomach or hips.

Guiltridden12345 · 25/09/2023 22:25

Baby oil! Drip a bit into hand and rub gently over the gluey residue for a minute, then wipe off with a cotton pad or flannel. It melts away! I too rubbed raw til someone told me this!

gel has its own drawbacks - timing it right for showers/swimming etc was tricky for me and it gave a big boost of hormones rather than the lovely slow drip of the patch. I’ve found patches much better for me as I have quite up and down emotions linked to hormones, so consultant recommended patches for that slow bit continual drip reason and it’s been great.

Shinyandnew1 · 25/09/2023 22:28

Baby oil-Rub it all over the patch, then let it sink in whilst you clean your teeth. Rub it with a cotton wool pad and then get it in shower-all gone.

Holidaynovice · 25/09/2023 22:28

Same as Hankunamatata, on bum cheek. I can't see them so AFAIK they are not there 😏

Passthecake30 · 25/09/2023 22:29

I also prefer the patches as the gel completely dried out my skin, and made it very itchy

Guiltridden12345 · 25/09/2023 22:30

Re sticking, no moisturiser where you’re sticking it, plain soap only on that bit (not stuff like dove with moisturiser in it) and use a place with as little friction from clothes as poss - bum gets too much friction from loo trips in my experience as your pants rub down and up over the area as do trousers/jeans. I put mine on my lower stomach, just above my pubic line, and it’s hidden by underwear and bikini bottoms but doesn’t get rubbed off on loo trips as you tend to pull underwear down/ loosen trousers from the front first.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 25/09/2023 22:31

I just circler rub with my dry finger (on my dry bum/thigh) the way you would rub to get chewing gum off your fingers 🤌. No need for lotions potions and ointments.
