Husband took my pillow

My husband is always complaining about his pillows. I've had a very expensive pillow for years, sister gave it to mum, mum gave it to brother, brother gave it to me, all said it was too hard but I love it. Anyway I let him try it years ago when I first got it, probably when I was just getting used to it and he said no way it was like a rock. Anyway now I love it so much, I find it hard to sleep without it in hotels etc as its quite different.only last night my toddler daughter who wants to sleep in our bed lately insisted she wanted a big pillow so I swapped just to keep her happy as she was in bad form the same evening and I was tired. I used her tiny toddler pillow. I hardly slept at all and when I got up my neck and back were very sore. I said all this to my husband and I've said it to him before when we've been away that I really miss my pillow so he knows. Also he had(has) 2 expensive duck feather pillows, this was after trying numerous other pillows too. So anyway after saying I hardly slept and my neck and head were sore this morning he said my pillow was going ont trial and he was going to try it tonight. I told him he already tried it years ago and didnt like it & thought he was only joking anyway as he knows how much I love my pillow. He went off to bed before us. I had put a pink pillow cover on my daughters pillow so she was happy with that. And there he was with his head propped up on my pillow watching something on his phone. I had only just put a clean pillow case on mine too so that made me mad as he hadnt washed his hair. He had put his pillow in my place. I told him I didnt want it. I keep the bed stuff clean and am constantly changing his pillow case as he drools on it and gets snots on it and i hadnt changed his as I only did a few days ago. Still thought he was joking until he turned his phone off and snored off to sleep. Leaving me with no pillow which he knew. I'm now up writing this as I can't sleep. I'm so pissed off, upset, mad at him. I can't believe he is being so selfish and that he would do a thing like this. AIBU???!!!!

If you've had it years it wants replacing anyway. Get yourself a nice new one and he can have the manky old one!

theemmadilemma · 19/09/2023 12:27

I'm so glad the vote is going your way.

I too have specific pillows. DH can afford to buy himself any pillows he chooses, so mine are mine. He could not understand why I would get pissed off when he would swap them. I can't sleep as well without mine!!

The day I saw him naked using one of mine to pop his lower back up I hit the roof. Naked farting near my pillow. It will never happen again safe to say.

Just take the pillow back, it’s that simple, who gives a shit if he’s in a bad mood after?

MrsSlocombesCat · 19/09/2023 12:32

When I read posts like this it makes me wonder how any relationships work. I have been single for years now and it’s so freeing not to have issues like this. Obviously I have never had a successful relationship but I wouldn’t want to be in one nowadays. However I would love to know the origin of this pillow so I could buy one!

Doopydoo · 19/09/2023 12:44

You need to stop being so wimpy OP.
Should have took it back and lay on the opposite side.

It's really not normal to have these issues though.

Winding me up so much listening to hom snoring away

I cannot believe you didn't just take it back!!

And so what if he's in a mood?

Honestly!

Newestname002 · 19/09/2023 15:07

Come OP. Get a grip next time - a firm grip on your pillow back from your cheeky husband! Then flip it over to the clean side to get a proper sleep. 🌹

Anderson2018 · 19/09/2023 15:08

These exact words! Why is him being upset even an issue if your upset?

IncomingTraffic · 19/09/2023 21:08

Lahdedahiam · 19/09/2023 10:59

@IncomingTraffic or the OP is being a dramatic martyr?

I did ask if she’s martyring herself. That is a possibility. The whole bit about how she’s been planning an arduous attempt to find herself a new pillow so he could have hers was odd.

and she is weirdly obsessed with the horror of a pillowcase being touched by hair that is not freshly washed. That’s definitely true (although may play well with the MN crowd who feel bedsheets must be washed at least twice a night, along with towels which should be replaced after each limb has been dried after each twice daily shower - this is not my crowd).

But, even if she is being a domestic martyr, he is still a dick for deciding to just take his wife’s pillow. if you know your wife has a special pillow, then it’s her pillow and you don’t get to take it because you fancy trying it out.

Lahdedahiam · 19/09/2023 22:40

@IncomingTraffic to be honest OP sounds as irritating as fuck! He has put his unwashed hair on a pillow??OMG! Did not turn it over!

Women can also be wrong!

Left · 19/09/2023 22:47

I need closure OP! Did you get your pillow back in time for bedtime tonight?

Hope you got some sleep in the end!

I think she's had DH beheaded!

whilingawaytime · 20/09/2023 19:59

What a bizarre long winded post about a family heirloom pillow. I know everyone is slating him and he's BU etc etc but also YABU for planning silent treatment (over a fucking pillow no less). I honestly am convinced silent treatment is used only by the emotionally illiterate.

whilingawaytime · 20/09/2023 20:02

@IncomingTraffic

Wait till you hear about how my partner and I abuse each other horribly then. Good thing we usually just usually (sometimes unceremoniously) take the pillow or whatever else back instead of crafting a Netflix worthy saga around it

caringcarer · 20/09/2023 20:59

You're crazy. Just pull it out from under his head and put a clean pillow case on it.

FairFuming · 20/09/2023 21:10

If my boyfriend stole my pillow I'd steal it back and then hit him with it.

CynicalToad · 20/09/2023 22:51

Could you ask your sister to ask your mum to ask your brother to ask your husband to give you the pillow back?

GreatGardenstuff · 22/09/2023 14:52

Ffs, take your pillow back. He’s a grown man, he can go and source his own new pillow if he’s got a problem with the ones he has!

RSSN · 22/09/2023 20:52

🤣

Anyway we had a laugh about it eventually and not divorced yet!

I take my pillow on holiday with me. According to the staff in the hotels, a lot of people do that too.
