Russell Brand has been enabled to become the preposterous character he is by all those who facilitated his behaviour. That includes people who commissioned and watched his shows, idiots who bought his books and videos and the people who booked to see him. I have no idea if he raped anyone but I would put money on him being in prison within a couple of years. The fact is, his behaviour is and should be abhorrent to anyone with a shred of integrity.

I actually loved his interview with Jordon Peterson. I think they are both beautifully articulate.

I do however question why now , he's been settled with a wife and children since 2017 . Totally settled down . There's no excusing his behaviour before that but he's so clearly a totally different person now to then . He seems like he was power crazed , thought he could do anything, was above reproach. I agree with you OP. He was very, very obviously an obnoxious creep. I read one interview and saw him on one tv show and couldn’t understand why people wanted to watch him or hear from him. He is the only one to blame for his actions but it is depressing that people admired him. Years ago, I got blocked by one of my very left wing friends because I questioned why on earth they would like him.

I don’t understand how anyone who read his unrepentant descriptions of animal cruelty in his autobiography continued to give him the time of day, let alone their money for further gigs etc. As well as his descriptions of what he thought of women. What a Lad, eh?

I don’t know if he still is but a few years back he was involved with the teenage cancer trust. I had a friend in 6th form who had cancer and she went to lots of events and meet ups with him.

Frankie Boyle jokes about raping women, the evidence is on his DVDs which have sold in their thousands. He should be next for investigated.

That a man who said to a female heckler in the audience 'I'll rape you so hard your gynaecologist will think you've been in a car accident' still gets a regular platform on mainstream media is incomprehensibly wrong to me.

I don't just want his BBC/C4 bookings to dry up (though I fucking do want that, so much) I also want his behaviour off air to be scrutinised. Men don't spontaneously say that sort of thing without their actions at some point matching the sentiment, imo.

I can’t remember the name of Bolye’s most recent BBC2 show, he talks about recent events and he’s had about 4 series of it. If he gets another series I’ll be complaining every single time it’s shown and asking why the BBC feel it’s ok to give such a man, a prime time show.

As for Brand's defence that he was promiscuous but always within the law. Well how would he know? He confesses he was off his face for much of the period. I don't think being out of it is a defence either.

This IS what happens with untreated sex addiction. Normal sex stops appealing so men go to greater and greater extremes - rape, violence, kids etc. Considering he’s always been open about it the real question is why the channels / production companies he worked with never investigated or reported him to the police.

Jesus @WinterTrees, that’s appalling. I knew Boyle had made some awful ‘jokes’ about Katie Price’s disabled son but had no idea he also made ‘jokes’ like that. (I don’t watch much TV nor pay much attention to ‘showbiz news’ so easily miss a lot of this stuff which is why I didn’t realise Brand had form for saying vile things either. The Andrew Sachs thing completely passed me by for example).
