To think I’m dying? Any doctors around? šŸ™

Got worse over a couple of weeks. Tiredness. Squishy tummy and no appetite. Aches and pains. Buzzing sensations all over. Back and neck pain. Joints hurting and clicking. Muscles twitching and hurting. Feeling wobbly. Now struggling to walk because of muscle burning pains. Anxiety and panic.

GP is totally unconcerned. Checked me over and said I haven’t lost muscle strength, range of movement, tone or sensation. Took some blood to test for vitamin deficiencies (I often have these but never felt like this before). Told me to address my anxiety and referred me to the psychiatric nurse.

I’m hysterical. Imagining I have some awful disease. How can the GP not be worried when I have such severe symptoms? Please help me if you can.

Have you lost weight at all OP?

Yes, I think long covid is bt far and away the likeliest cause of everything you describe (including the blood test results).

We really don't know much about how to treat long covid, other than to alleviate the symptoms and hope it clears over time. Talking to your doctor about this would be worthwhile, because I think your anxiety is likely exacerbated by the not knowing.

Would long Covid hit me like 10 months after I had Covid?

Yes but I haven’t been eating because I feel sick and bad tummy.

Ignore all the posters on here that are claiming it’s anxiety,
You said that your inflammation marker result is high in your recent post.

They need to investigate that.
Fobbing you off with iron pills and psychiatry appointments is lazy incompetent.

Thyroid ā€œnormalā€ ranges vary from hospital trust to trust. Mine was borderline underactive according to ours but if I lived elsewhere in the country it would have been well out of range. It would be useful to know the number and do some research on that

Immoralplant · 17/09/2023 19:30

Are you a healthy weight OP?

Obesity is a very common cause of a slightly raised ESR.

Yes, it can manifest weeks or months after the acute illness (it can also occur after an asymptomatic case, but that's hard to spot in societies that don't test much)

AbbeyGailsParty · 17/09/2023 19:31

Did you have a range for your B12 results? It needs to be in the top quadrant of the range. You also need a good supply of Folic Acid for B12 to work optimally. GPs will often state B12 is normal when it’s one or two pints over the minimum.

When you say buzzing does it feel like tingling, pins and needles ? Any numbness in yoyr fingers and toes ? ( all signs of low B12)

Why are you obsessed with your physical health but not your mental health? Mental ill health kills just like physical ill health does. And as you can see it can be just as problematic in other ways. What concrete steps are you taking to repair your mental health?

GreenMonty · 17/09/2023 19:32

I'm not medical OP but have you been tested for coeliac disease - problems digesting gluten?

I second this, you’ve a bad tummy and high inflammation. Ask for a coeliac screen x

Obesity is a very common cause of a slightly raised ESR.

I am maybe 7lb overweight. Not obese. I have psoriasis which could have knocked it up according to the GP.

Could you have low B12? Mine was very low and my body went haywire. I had bad anxiety/panic attack symptoms as soon as I upped my red meat intake and started a supplement I felt much better

BabbleBee · 17/09/2023 19:38

Do you think you recovered afterwards? I was also going to suggest long Covid - the internal vibration feelings are very common in LC.

ukgot2pot · 17/09/2023 19:38

Do you have pins and needles in your hands and feet? Any difficulty sleeping? Any brain fog?

Willmafrockfit · 17/09/2023 19:38

please contact your psychiatric nurse, as the GP advised op.

Garret · 17/09/2023 19:42

Not coeliac. They have tested all sorts.

What concrete steps are you taking to repair your mental health?
Been trying to get NHS counselling for six months. Taken up Buddhist meditation. I feel calmer but still worried about my health.

They said B12 should be 190-660 and nine was 268, so fine. No numbness, I would say it feels like when you’ve lay on your arm and it’s gone to sleep. I feel like I’m shaking but when you look at me I’m not.

You are not dying. Some people actually are but not you. You are one of the lucky ones. But you don’t feel lucky. Take your doctors advice. It will be ok.

No trouble sleeping till I got anxious about these symptoms. Hands and feet hurt, probably referred pain from the arms and legs. Yes I feel foggy and tired.

I didn’t have these symptoms at the time I had Covid. I felt I had fully recovered. I felt shit six months ago and got iron and vit d, only the last few weeks I’ve had the serious pains, buzzing, twitching etc.

It could well be anxiety related.
Regardless of vitamin blood test you may find good supplements like magnesium, vitamin D, omega 3 fatty acids, iron, zink will help. Aside from working on the anxiety side of things. Plenty of sleep, fresh air, sunshine, enough drinks, food /despite lack of appetite/.

VeloVixen · 17/09/2023 19:49

My SIL felt dreadful like this, to the extent that her work called her an ambulance one day. All tests were normal. She did a load of googling and decided it was peri menopausal stuff, started HRT and felt better within days.

also get vit d keels checked.

but agree it could also easily be anxiety, your mind can be very convincing.

AutumnSalad · 17/09/2023 19:51

What were your Vit D levels? It takes a while to rectify and feel better. Neurological symptoms, the buzzing and burning you are feeling are notoriously hard to find the cause - or find out what they are - and often not life threatening if that reassures you. But they can be very strange and scary. Have you had an MRI? That will rule out some things and might be worth doing if these symptoms do not abate.

@Garret Listen to all the people suggesting perimenopause!

I think the anxiety is being made worse by not knowing what the hell is wrong with you.

Please trial some HRT.
