I'm seeing more and more people looking for ways to improve their gut health.

I have endo and going GF has been one of the most helpful things pain wise.

AIBU to think we're on the cusp of a gut health revolution here? Fingers crossed that it will drive companies to come up with better tasting GF food as well as some of it is dreadful!

I find this an interesting and frustrating topic.

I have suffered with ulcerative colitis for little over 10 years and ended up having surgery to remove my large bowel and I have a stoma.

Not once have any consultants spoken to me about gut health, or even out me in the direction of a dietician. I researched all that off my own back and tried lots of elimination diets.

It's really frustrating to have a debilitating condition and someone says have you tried Kefir, why don't you go vegan AAAGGGHHHH!!

It depends how much new stuff they are able to sell us, OP. I imagine if it boils down to 'eat real food, not too much and keep an eye on sugar', it won't take off. If supplements, books on special diets, special food etc may help, we'll never hear an end to it.

YABU.

Tim Spector's intermittent fasting experiment results are crap. Most of what he sells is snake oil.

I'm sure there's some influence of gut bacteria for some conditions but the idea that it's the root cause of all ailments is just daft.

YANBU and I think much of the root of modern illness - and most others- begins or are linked to gut health.

it’s not as simple as excluding gluten though!

I don't know what Spector is selling but if he argues for more live and fresh foods in diets to support immunity and digestion, he is not wrong.
Anecdotal, but I grew up on that type of food (I would say most of the world did on some of these) , then I lost it after living for years in UK because it's just not common here and my diet was a good immigrant who assimilated into the local diet🙈 Then I started eating like before again, making my own ferments etc and haven't had a cold since. Used to have them every couple of months for few years!

Why is smoke point important, what environmental problem, or what health problem does this cause in humans if you get smoke point wrong?
