To think high schools should have a summer uniform like primary schools?

I mean, it gets really hot in the summer and they get uncomfortable in thick material especially when stuck in a classroom all day. Those gingham style summer dresses they have in primary school are thin cotton and help keep them cool. Why don't high schools have a summer uniform like this?

My god, of course they should. It would take the kids hours to get ready in the morning if they didn't. Nightmare.

However, they should go back to what it was like when I was at high school - plain white tshirt & black shorts for PE. Plan white shirt, grey skirt, white socks, tie & blazer. The blazer and tie were the only things that were school specific, tie was a couple of quid, blazer wasn't too pricey, and there was a tabletop sale at the end of each summer holiday where parents could sell old good condition uniforms to younger kids. It was great. No branding etc apart from the badge on the blazer and tie to show what year you were in.

It doesn’t at all . My Ds went to a secondary none uniform school…. I can tell you the novelty of none uniform they grab whatever -
I did hear of incidences of bullying ( like every school )but it was never clothes related . Bullies find a reason to bully .

Why polo shirts instead of normal shirts which ate thinner?

(I'm surprised that schools dictate sleeve length though... mine wear short sleeved all year as they don't like the cuffs

Totally. I was always jealous watching Neighbours and Home & Away and wishing our uniform was those summer dresses.

yes a couple of weeks. When it gets a bit warmer they can drop the blazers but it’s only a couple of weeks a year that it’s warm enough to need anything more.

Well, all I can say to that is thank goodness all my great-grandparents had the wits to leave.

I second this. DD is 17 and currently at a non-uniform school. They don't spend ages on what to wear. In winter, they are in jeans/track pants and hoodies, in summer in shorts/skirts and T shirts. Never experienced any clothes-based bullying or heard of it.

Like all teens, coats seem to be problematic. Other than that they are all just wearing clothes.

I think DD had about a week at the start worrying about what to wear. After that she forgot about it because nobody cared. They were busy with actual school and mainly focused on comfort. The sportier children just wore sports kit most days. DD spends at least two/three days a week in jogging bottoms in the winter, purely for comfort.
