To be fed up of larger sized Bra's costing the Earth and being ugly?

Its not fair... i may be a 40FF but i want a pretty bra.. and one that doesn't cost me over 20 quid a time!

I don't want to wear something that looks like a granny bra, i'm 26 ffs, i want to look and feel pretty!

I'm so fed up of seeing all those gorgeous bra's with the pretty lace and colours and bows and finding they only go up to a 36C... i haven't been a 36C since i was 15!!

Thank you rabbit - tis a pain being big of cup and small of back eh? Not that DH is complaining even though I'm pregnant right now and will end up with painful awkward breasts that will refuse to be stuffed into any comfortable clothing.

Nighbynight · 03/03/2008 21:34

I second ASDA for pretty cheap pretty bras!

I am in Germany which is a big bra desert.

soopermum1 · 03/03/2008 21:49

i'm a 34J. do i win this thread for having the bigest boobs?

Crystaltipsandalaistar · 03/03/2008 22:04

mine are 32GG. Thats what they measured at bravissimo, but there is no way a m&s 32 would go around my back, their sizes are so different. But because she measured my cup so much bigger I found that the straps are so far back/high up and dug in under my arm, so i took them back......

Heated · 03/03/2008 22:12

Online is best but if near or passing Northants/A14, and you wear Rigby and Peller/ Fantasy, they have a factory shop which offer a fitting service. It's not worth making a special trek for since what they have in stock can be erratic but a friend who is 32FF gets her yearly supply there. I also got my wedding underwear there, RRP £80 but I paid £11.

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 22:18

Well im just a big fat munter with the added annoyance of not liking big nylon bra's.

Im a 38E/EE and it is a right royal pain in teh nipple

DualCycloneCod · 03/03/2008 22:21

Squilly - if you are ever in London go to Ribby and Peller - they are the only place that have ever measured me correctly. You don't have to buy there but at least you will know your correct size for ordering online. I am a 30C and struggle to find much - definately much easier since figleaves.com came along though will look at some of the other sites listed here

You are a life saver. I usually go to London a couple of times a year (what with being a northerner and all) so I'll definitely hook up (if you'll pardon the pun) with Rigby & peller next time I'm there.

That's great advice! Thanks so much!

Heated ..... what's the name & exact location of this factory shop ? I think I read about it ages ago somwehere but haven't been able to track it down.

nobodysfool · 04/03/2008 13:50

PLease please please give us the address for the factory shop if you know it.

Heated · 04/03/2008 21:55

The factory outlet shop for Fantasie, Freya, Rigby & Peller is:
Eveden Limited,
The Corsetry Factory,
Rothwell Road,
Desborough
Northamptonshire,
NN14 2PG
Tel. 01536 760282

This is their very basic website but stock on there looks very limited, much better in store:

www.outletlingerie.co.uk/help.aspx?help_cat_id=0&help_content_id=8

If you plan to visit check their opening times and stock availability as they are erratic. Very good too for swimwear.

expatinscotland · 04/03/2008 21:59

All bras are a rip off, IMO.

I buy cheap ones in Tesco.

catsmother · 04/03/2008 22:15

Thanks very much Heated !

Will make the effort to go up there.

nobodysfool · 04/03/2008 22:20

Heated- you are a star.Thank you x

helewele · 05/03/2008 01:17

Have you tried naturally close? I wear a 38G and always get really pretty and comfortable bras from them I really don't think you are being unreasonable btw - I was always embarrassed in the school changing rooms with my 'reinforced steel' bras while everyone else got to wear pretty lacy little bras. I now go out of my way to always ensure my bras are of the pretty variety, but it makes me so that some of them cost the earth!!

helewele · 05/03/2008 01:19

PS website is www.naturallyclose.co.uk

LittleMissTickles · 05/03/2008 02:14

YABU, absolutely. All of you with fabulous large breasts should PAY PAY PAY for it, and no complaints either, you should be DELIGHTED to even have this problem at all!

(LittleMissTickles goes to rinse her very expensive gel-padded A-cups)

elvisgirl · 05/03/2008 03:45

I find only the more expensive makes like Freya & Fantasie seem to offer the appropriate level of support. Other ones just don't seem to have the necessary level of engineering! It is really annoying having to pay about three times the price for a bra and to have limited choice, and there is no chance that DP can buy a set of a nice lingerie on b'days in the right size as it even varies from style to style sometimes.

squilly · 05/03/2008 14:19

yep.. Sorry littlemisstickles, but seen from the giddy heights of the double f cup, rinsing out expensive gel padded a cups would be a dream for some of us bigger gals. And at least you have an option of not wearing a bra at all if you don't want to!

I know that lack of boobies can be seen as negatively as excessive boobies, but a) they tend to be lower maintenance, in every sense of the word (cheap bras, no need to impress them with exercise and no need to worry about lying on your back and losing them under your armpits) and b)by the time you get to my age, you'll be thanking God that your boobies aren't even vaguely acquainted with your knees.

Mine know my ankles...intimately. I kind of think they have nowhere to go, but soon, without proper support, they could easily be scraping the ground, like the librarian from Terry Pratchetts discworld books!

That's why I'm so grateful for the numerous website links and the generous advice of fellow booby posters.

Oh...and if you're still thinking 'whingey bitch' it's true. Where the boobies are concerned, that's exactly what I am. I know that a fair few pounds of my overweightedness is down to booby fat and my poor back is bent trying to cart the darned things round every day. Be thankful for your a cups LMT. They'll be friends to you in the years to come!

bunnyrabbit · 05/03/2008 17:09

Amen sister.....

Oh and unfortunately, Naturally close don't seem to do the smaller back sizes.... ho hum
