To be fed up of larger sized Bra's costing the Earth and being ugly?

Its not fair... i may be a 40FF but i want a pretty bra.. and one that doesn't cost me over 20 quid a time!

I don't want to wear something that looks like a granny bra, i'm 26 ffs, i want to look and feel pretty!

I'm so fed up of seeing all those gorgeous bra's with the pretty lace and colours and bows and finding they only go up to a 36C... i haven't been a 36C since i was 15!!

My tip would be to have a look for something you like in Bravissimo and then check if Figleaves do it cheaper.

Try this:

for free delivery.

Happy shopping

I watch out in the M&S sale all the 'bigger' girl bras are always left I picked up 10 lovely sexy 38E at £1.50 each! most of which I could find the matching knickers for too!!!

katz · 03/03/2008 10:46

dizzy - thaat would be good, a few free bra would be lovely!

bunnyrabbit · 03/03/2008 10:53

MissTittleMouse,
I always buy my bras from bravissimo and (when not pregnant) am a 30HH.

Went in to Debenhams to buy knickers and was surprised to see they are selling bras in my size, but only the same brands that are on the websites. Couldn't see any cheaper bras in the lower back size and larger cups. Will look again when I'm back into wireless bras......

I'm a 34F and have to get my bras from bravissimo, although they cost more they last longer than cheap bras. But in saying that I really object to the cost. It's worth keeping an eye on their website and buying the sale items.

colditz · 03/03/2008 11:09

I have just had delivered a brand new M&S bra for £6.50 inc P&P - from Ebay. It's worth a try?

Emprexia · 03/03/2008 11:12

I usually get mine from Debenhams, but i find they fall apart really quickly.. especially the thing with the wires poking through.

I go to Bravissimo too (32FF), but get p*ssed off at the cost. However, it's at least not so demoralising as going somewhere else and finding a "choice" of 3 styles, if you're lucky. Debenhams have a good-ish selection but the last time I was there it was all Freya type stuff (like Bravissimo) so just as expensive.

I was in M&S at the weekend and saw they had a few reasonable styles now going up to G. However, they didn't do an FF, just an F, or a G, and I therefore wasn't sure what to try on instead when the sizing system is different.

Do try eBay as well ..... I've got quite a few nice bras from there at a good price, like Freya for £12.

catsmother · 03/03/2008 11:38

Oh - and forgot to say YANBU !

Also wanted to add that what really makes me mad is the cost of larger sized bikini bras (and matching bottoms too obviously) ...... they're worse than bras, especially when you take into account the few times a year you'll wear it.

Botbot · 03/03/2008 11:39

I have the worst bra size ever - 40C. It means mainstream bras don't go up to my size, but I can't do Bravissimo either because they start at D. I'm just a freak of nature, obviously.

Katz...I'm off there too. You should definitely be on comish.

squilly · 03/03/2008 12:47

Matalan don't do doubles in the bigger sizes (or didn't last time I looked) which is often the case with 'larger' ranges. They'll go up to a double d, but move into a double e or above and you're much more limited.

I've had similar advice...go to Avon, go here or there, and they often don't do the larger double cup sizes.

Also, I hate the fact that anything over a double D just looks plug ugly anyway. My very small chested friend came shopping with me the other day and laughed hysterically at a larger bra on a hanger. She stopped laughing when I said that my bras were two sizes bigger than that. When I then put said bra cup on my head and said, yup...definitely smaller, she started laughing again. But really, it's not that funny!!!!

bunnyrabbit · 03/03/2008 13:41

Squilly, you put the bra on your head? Is this some new way of trying on bras, without taking your clothes off, that I know nothing about??

Please tell me more!

SheikYerbouti · 03/03/2008 13:58

Brastop definitely good

Buy lots from there - they are excellent

Have big boobs too (36 F)

Finding owt is night oin impossible

hotbot · 03/03/2008 14:54

yup. same struggle as you at 32j the problem is the larger sized bras will look nice but really dont offer the same sort of support as the minging old lady ones so even if they do your size they may not be suitable

BigBadMouse · 03/03/2008 15:03

30H here and I tend to have to get mine from eBay now as I got fed up with walking around all the shops only to find nothing near my size at all. Glad to see places like debenhams are stocking that sort of size now - had given up on them.

Why are bras so expensive though????? If you have big boobs they are heavy so the elastic goes after what is quite a short time IMO . Do they really cost a lot to make?

Emprexia · 03/03/2008 18:55

Colditz! Thank you for the ebay suggestion.. i just ordered a really gorgeous one from there for 11.50.

I was wearing a size 34 d then went to Rigby and Peller to get 'measured' as i was given a gift voucher from DH.I was gobbed smacked when they told me i was in fact a 30 E!
I did buy two bras from there (very pricy but worth every penny) but i can't afford to shop there every time i want a new bra. Then good old ebay came to the rescue.....i have just bought the different colour version of my two bras for £50 less.
All bow to the saviour that is ebay.
Going to have a look at the brastop site though its looks fab.

fizzbuzz · 03/03/2008 20:01

I don't think Bravissimo is that good. I think their stock is a bit limited. Figleaves carry more than them, and I think there is another website called Double D

squilly · 03/03/2008 20:52

BR - Oh god....do you not genrally try bras on your head then? It always works 4 me. If it covers the tips of my ears, it'll cover my norks, as a general rule. Sorry 2 lower the tone. Will try to be more uplifting in the future.

Nobodysfool - I dream of going to Rigby & Peller. I imagine it will be an epiphany 4 me & my weird shaped curves. I am green with
