I'm old school, stuck in the 80's to be fair, rarely listen to any new kind of music! So I guess I'm looking for something that would work as a fantastic song to walk back down the aisle with my new husband.

I like pop, he likes rock....

So far songs we like but have decided not quite right are:

Love Shack (B52's)
Groove is in the Heart (Deelite)
Never Gonna Give you Up (Rick)
Don't stop Believing (Journey)
Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac)

We can't use 'happy' as used by a friend...

Does anyone have any other suggestions of something that is uplifting, fun and will make us and our guests smile?

Running out of options and wedding in 2 weeks!

Would be really grateful for any suggestions new, old, classics, out there!

Thank you so much!

We had Elvis, "A little less conversation - a little more action please"

nadine90 · 07/09/2023 00:12

If you and oh have slightly different music tastes - do you share a favourite film with a good soundtrack?
Mine is Pulp Fiction and I kind of like the idea of You Never Can Tell - Chuck Berry as a first dance (complete with THE dance of course)

The walk back is surprisingly quick as you aren't 'processing' so you need something with immediate impact. 'Everybody Dance Now!!' If you want a really upbeat mood.

I had Thinking of you by sister sledge

About 1 minute in

Such a feel good song and the lyrics are perfect

Probably not the best suggestion.
Highway to hell, by acdc ?

We had You've Got the Love by Florence and the Machine.

Although the first song comes to mind is seven devils

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/09/2023 23:36

Better Together by Jack Johnson.

This would be my choice too!

trulyunruly01 · 07/09/2023 04:14

If you're both 80s music people, then remind yourself of 'You're the One for Me' by D Train.
The intro lulls people into thinking it's all swishy and romantic then - bam.

Tezza1 · 07/09/2023 04:27

We May Never Pass This Way Again, by Seals and Crofts.
Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, so many I would happily have had. Wish I'd had the courage to use "Leather & Lace". Schlocky, probably, but I loved it when when first came out, love it just as much now.

Ringonrighthand · 07/09/2023 04:35

We had “The Locomotion”, the original version. As a Pp said tho the walk back down is very quick and everyone was clapping so you didn’t really hear it!

RunningAwayToJoinTheCircus · 07/09/2023 04:38

Walking on Sunshine, but the one by Rockers Revenge, not the Katrina one.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/09/2023 04:38

Not 80s, but, Hoppipolla is so joyful.

BeeVer · 07/09/2023 04:48

Weezer - Buddy Holly

charabang · 07/09/2023 04:49

Love will keep us together- Captain &Tenille

HectorSalamanca · 07/09/2023 04:59

Must Be Love by Madness (or Labi Siffrie)

Fourecks · 07/09/2023 06:39

I was also going to suggest 500 Miles by the Proclaimers

ALittleBitAhAh · 07/09/2023 06:59

We had Pete Townsend, Let my love open the door. Let us know what you choose. Enjoy your wedding day ❤️

ISeeMisledPeople · 07/09/2023 07:22

Have you been together for ten years? I know it's unlikely, but if you have then 10 years by Dadi Freyr would be perfect.
