Your ticket DOES NOT take you further than you think

Frivolous thread, but ScotRail have adopted a strapline for the Scottish train service, "Your ticket takes you further than you think".

It makes my teeth itch, it's so stupid.

Surely the one thing we can agree on is that your ticket takes you literally and precisely to the station stated on the ticket. In fact, going further is a criminal offence.

YABU - it's genius
YANBU - it was written by a bonehead, all posters should be immediately corrected with a Sharpie

it would be far better if it were "See it, say it, sorted".

good job that's what it actually is then!

Agree - my autocorrect changed 'sort it' to 'sorted'.

"Nooooo. I haven't seen that and now I'm not going to get it out of my head. What makes it worse is that it's near-impossible not to read it as Faster Easter Oyster."

Ha, I always read it as Faster Easier Oystier 😁

(I think it was from when they first brought in Oyster cards - I can clearly hold a grudge!)

In which case, "sort it" wouldn't be better as that would imply you have to sort it yourself. Which, given the state of policing in general might be true, but it's probably not the image they're going for.

My 3 year old loves 'see it, say it, sorted'. He often says it to his toy trains. He even gets the phone number right!

We get a lot of trains...

StrawberrySquash · 08/09/2023 13:40

So fed up with that!

That’s adorable

It’s like “going the extra mile”. If you’ve gone an extra mile you have overshot your target and are not where you need toe.

Someone should try it so the rail employees can explain their way out of it.

Around where I live, we have signs saying,

“Pick your litter up, other people do’,

meaning, I think, that other people pick their own litter up.

However, I read that as, ‘Pick your litter up. Other people do,’, meaning other people pick my litter up, and if that’s the case, why bother picking up my own litter, as other people will pick it up for me. (Hope that makes sense).

It’s usually in picnic spots I see this
so makes sense

It's irritating. Especially as they could have used "your money takes you further than you think".

The one that annoys me is "speed kills" from the police. Surely if "speed kills" then I would be in deadly danger when I walk to the local shops. In fact going anywhere might kill me. So better stay at home wrapped up in cotton wool.

"excessive speed kills" or "speed inappropriate for the conditions kills" is something I could get behind, but I appreciate it is not very catchy.

I texted BTP re an incident, told them full details of incident, train direction, last station next station so then could gauge where train would be at any given time. They texted me back 30 mins later asking what train I was on and what station had I just left. I was home by then...well sorted
