To pretend to be my husband?

I've been trying to sort an issue with an online supplier. I decided to just pretend to be my husband in order to make sure they would talk to me. Gave my name ''David'' think very much so a mans name.

The guy on the phone clearly didn't believe me, (there is no mistaking I am a woman by my voice), and said, can I confirm this is MR DAVID Smith which I just said yes. He couldn't really say well I don't believe you are a man so he had to proceed with the call as if I was DH.

More so a what do you think not an AIBU

YABU - That's bad to pretend like that
YANBU - Got the job done. No harm

When we were returning to live in the UK I had a job and came earlier, OH asked me to check the TES for anything suitable and I noticed a good stopgap possibility but the closing date was soon. I got the forms, completed them and sent them off. When he arrived I said You have an interview tomorrow, he got it, loved it and stayed through to retirement.

I cannot believe how many messages of support the OP is getting, you are committing fraud by doing this and you are putting call handlers in an extremely awkward position.

What if a violent husband calls a credit card company pretending to be his wife, passes all the security checks and the call handler gives information that tips said husband over the edge.

Thankfully the company I work for lead by common sense and we can advise the person calling that we don't believe them to be the genuine customer if we don't feel they fit the profile.

Yes we bought a house in DH's name (reasons why) and we dealt with an online solicitor, I did the whole conveyancing process pretending to be him 😂 I even set up an email address [email protected] o m
So that I could have full access and the emails wouldn't get mixed up with anything in his own inbox, I answered every email and uploaded and sent back every document signing all the emails off Mr Husbands name 🤣

It still makes me chuckle now!

Like it!

We also did this on property paperwork, getting a signature ‘witnessed’ by a relative. In reality, we just faked it.

I’m retired, which is a good job for my daughter as so far I have made 48 calls to OVO on her behalf.
Most of the time it takes 20 minutes hanging on then 20 minutes explaining the problem yet again.
Not sure she would have the time to do that whilst working full time.

Yes trying to sort out FILs probate. All in DHs name but his job means he can’t be on hold on the phone for an hour plus.

They refused to speak to me despite answering all the security questions so I rang back pretending to be him.

This.

The idea that you can phone your bank up and pretend to be someone else is fucking nuts, because, y'know, fraud and identity theft and stuff.
