Is that not for the school gate mums? Or teachers?

greenspaces4peace · 04/09/2023 15:53

i would assume it's aimed at the parents dropping off the kids at school not the kids themselves.

PuttingDownRoots · 04/09/2023 15:53

Honestly I'd presume its for the parents or teachers!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/09/2023 15:54

I'd assume it was marketed at older teen school students, college/uni students, and teachers.

Not sure what your issue is? Lots of women and girls like to wear make up. I don't, so the advert doesn't personally appeal to me, but I can see they've selected some nice neutral colours and these would make sense as part of a make up routine for work (in a school) or attending classes if you are of an age that you like to wear make up.

BoohooWoohoo · 04/09/2023 15:54

A big percentage of secondary school girls attend school in makeup. Not sure about the brand's popularity amongst teens but I know that social media means that children know about brands earlier than we did and they often receive premium brands as gifts.

Malapataraso · 04/09/2023 15:57

To me, it is more crap we don’t need aimed at women and girls, but nothing more nauseating than the regular ads aimed at women and girls to sell us crap we don’t need.

Hufflepods · 04/09/2023 15:59

It’s nothing to do with “can kids not be kids” though clearly, it’s not like they are running an ad half way through a kids tv show for foundation. People also refer to ‘back to school’ for 6th forms and uni students.

Maddy70 · 04/09/2023 15:59

That's aimed at school staff and mums I think

BackToOklahoma · 04/09/2023 16:01

It would be nice to think it’s aimed at adults, but looking at at least half the girls at my kids school, it’s not. They’ve actually had to put things like no false nails or false eyelashes in the prospectus. 😅

Strawberryboost · 04/09/2023 16:02

It’s pitched to mothers clearly

maddiemookins16mum · 04/09/2023 16:26

Pretty sure it’s not aimed at year 1 to 5.
My DD wore make up from 14.

Crossstich · 04/09/2023 16:28

I don't think it's aimed at children . Isn't it for teachers and mothers?

GalileoHumpkins · 04/09/2023 16:28

Where does it claim to be aimed at kids? Bobbi Brown make-up isn't cheap so I doubt they're advertising to children.

JanesBlond · 04/09/2023 16:30

Isn’t makeup banned in most schools? I don’t think it is clearly aimed at parents/teachers, but I don’t think it’s clearly aimed at children either. It’s probably deliberately ambiguous.

RandomButtons · 04/09/2023 16:32

18 year olds go to school too you know.

GrandHighPoohbah · 04/09/2023 16:35

Make up is allowed at many secondary schools for the older pupils. This is aimed at those teenagers, plus mums and teachers. Who do you think it's aimed at OP?

Strawberryboost · 04/09/2023 16:35

Bobbie Brown
Only available in high end department stores or online
A premium make up range. Very well regarded by fashion editors

Safe to say Op - you got the wrong end of the stick

JanesBlond · 04/09/2023 16:46

@Strawberryboost they do sell it in Boots as well

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 04/09/2023 16:46

What's wrong with wearing makeup?

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/09/2023 16:57

My 12 year old tripped off to her first day at high school with a touch of mascara and lip gloss (she’s since decided it’s too much faff in the morning). It wasn’t Bobbi Brown but teenagers wear make up and it’s certainly not banned in schools where I am. I don’t see any problems with the advert - I won’t be buying high end stuff any time soon so presuming parents can say “no” it’s no more problematic than any other branded back to school advert.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/09/2023 16:58

My opinion?

After spending eighty five notes on other stuff first, that's a nice free gift to stick in the Parents Evenings and Other Events makeup bag that lives in my drawer, along with the paracetamol, blister plasters, tweezers, glass file, handcream, dry shampoo and hairbrush.

If there's a girl wanting to wear makeup, they aren't going for the not really wearing a great deal of makeup look - Bobbi Brown is not on their brand lists, particularly as their shade range for foundation isn't fantastically inclusive.

Strawberryboost · 04/09/2023 17:10

Oh wow! Good news! Love the brand

SilkenPilken · 04/09/2023 17:17

I think it’s aimed at teenagers. The products are the type of no makeup makeup that you can get away with wearing at school. It would be a very boring advert to aim at working women who can choose any colours they want. I mean this doesn’t even include mascara. It’s a nude skin look that is being marketed here.

Strawberryboost · 04/09/2023 17:20

Teenagers with a rather large budget

FloweryName · 04/09/2023 17:23

I’d assume it was aimed at teenagers rather than parents or teachers or kids. Considering there are 15/16\17 year olds going back to school this week, I can’t see the problem.
