To refuse to buy this toy for DD?

DD wants to buy the jellycat kangaroo toy as we are going on holiday in October to Australia. I’m not sure about buying it for her because some (not all) Australians see kangaroos as pests and I don’t want people to mean to her as a result for having a kangaroo. Just in terms of if anyone horrible was to say something like “why has she got a soft toy of a pest” or something more horrible. DD definitely wants to take it with her when we go so I wouldn’t be able to avoid it coming to Australia with us either. Aibu to not buy it her for this reason or am I worrying for nothing?

Absolutely tremendous.

I hope this is a joke. If not then perhaps you should have thought more carefully about breeding. Too late now though! Good luck navigating any real problems in life.

WTF? This has to be a joke

Look we are a weird mob over here. We have way more kangaroos than people, they are considered pests but at the same time we have it on our coat of arms (with the emu) oh and we eat the fuckers as well. And no we don't give a flying fuck if someone buys a stuffed toy. What I find strange though is buying an Australian animal in the UK rather than in Australia.

There are way more things to be concerned about in Australia than a stuffed toy...

This post has convinced me potential parents should have to take a common sense test before being allowed to have children. Just plain daft.

Toenailz · 04/09/2023 01:28

I call troll.

No one has this much time on their hands to genuinely worry about a soft toy.
