Read this article today & I'm sure it will bring mixed feelings. Interested to know other peoples thoughts on it.

My personal feeling is if I had been the lady in question. I would of ignored her name being included, as the likelihood was that the paper in question would of been fogotten about fairly quickly.
But I do believe she should not be outed for the actions of ancestors who were dead long before she came into existence. Nor do I see any justification for including her name on the paper.

Before anyone starts on oh but she has family wealth due to the history. None of these families were exactly paupers even before slavery.

@CallumDansTransitVan
”I feel it was a fair response to your claim that Malik Al Nasir is still suffering under the control of Ms Sandbach.”

Are you struggling with reading comprehension?

Not in the slightest. This quote is lifted directly from your post 'He gets to be on the receiving end of her power wealth & influence, and so the harm continues down the generations.'

That to me reads that you believe he is continuing to suffer. I'd argue that he appears to have a reasonable life. All credit to him for coming from humble beginings. To me that would be a better thing for him to promote to younger students from deprived backgrounds. Be they black or white.

Yeah I don’t think you understand what direct quote means. Let alone the difference between control and influence.

Regardless, it seems your view is that he should not talk about the impact of slavery because you think he should be celebrating how wonderful and kind the UK has been to raise him up so the other black and brown children can be similarly grateful.

I’m done talking with you about race.

Can you give an example please of the 'harm' (your quote) he is suffering?

Right… so you don’t perceive it as harmful that he’s been threatened with being sued, dragged though the national press, had his educational and life accomplishments scrutinised and picked apart, told to pipe down about historical facts that have impacted his family, and been dictated to by random internet strangers (that’s you) who think they know better what he should be doing and saying in his life’s work?

You hit the nail on the head with the 'historical facts' part in your post. There was no historical reason for him to single out one living family member. Nor is their any reason for cambridge university to allow her to be singled out.

I very much doubt he is suffering much with all the press attention. If his desires as a black activist is to promote discussion he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. Also the people being threatened with legal action are the University.

(repeating for my own benefit so I don’t forget and engage again with someone as determined as this to paint the black guy as the bad guy)
