To be a bit disappointed I wasn't informed of results?

I worked as a sessional A level teacher in a 6th form college until May 2023, for one academic year. Due to low subject intake for September 2023 I wouldn't be needed (but would be kept on the books). I handed in my notice in May as I ended up finding a permanent salaried job (this one was a 0 hours contract)
They understood and I left after the students' final day before exams.
My email account was deactivated a few days after, but I still had the teachers' address on my personal email.
Obviously results day has been and gone but I've no way of knowing how my former students did. I emailed the teachers but sadly they never replied.
It did hurt a bit, but that's how it is sometimes. Maybe it's a safeguarding thing? But I'm a recent member of staff not some random stranger, they couldn't even send a generic 'students did well' polite email.
Anyway, not sure if I'm being unreasonable, it would have been nice to know since I taught them for a year, but never mind.

Actually just stop commenting. You're far too invested and odd.

I literally mentioned they have no work for me next year in my OP.
Now trot along and stop writing rubbish.

Listen. Go and troll elsewhere. You are desperately trying to be obtuse and it's just embarrassing. Bye.

Yep

My dd was one of only 2 students who did a GCSE in a subject no longer taught at her school and the teacher left after the last exam. She did really well and wants her teacher to know her result but has no way of contacting her as teacher's email no longer exists.

MistressIggi · 28/08/2023 19:27

I can see why it would be helpful for you to know, as if lots failed for example you would something differently next time, or a class who did really well would be good confirmation of your teaching methods for your next application.

I think it's nice you're interested but ultimately knowing the detail isn't possible.

The SLT advice seems very sound.

Your attacks on other posters don't paint you in a good light though, including the name calling.

Pizzahut345 · 28/08/2023 20:09

Not really bothered about what light I'm painted in from you tbh. But thanks

I don't know, maybe, just maybe, I want to know if they achieved their target grades that I predicted? Whether I have helped them work hard enough? Am I doing well as a teacher? Wild, I know 😂

Make an appointment and ask for development feedback? Explain you are at the beginning of your career and would like to understand if you are doing a good job.

At dds bog standard state school, they put exam results by subject on the school website sometime in the Autumn term.
Eg English 180 sat, breakdown X got 9, Y got 8 etc etc.

Pizzahut345 · 28/08/2023 20:41

Thank you, that's a good idea I will ask.
Small number of posters acting like I'm some randomer who's never met these students in my life, 'why the hell would you need to know'. I think it's said for effect.

Honestly I can't believe some posters on here.

I would not care if you asked for my kids results. I'm just so grateful to the people who teach my children and would be delighted that you were still interested in them.

MN really makes me wonder about people sometimes!

Ok 😂

I mean, why bother posting, to be so aggressive to other posters replying to you?

Honestly I didn't read it like that.

Your later posts saying you wanted feedback makes more sense.

Your earlier one gave the impression that you wanted a specific breakdown & posters were indicating that might not be possible.

You then called people 'weirdo' & similar which was ... odd.

ladyvimes · 28/08/2023 23:13

It’s not a gdpr issue as you taught these students and their results are relevant to your job. You need to know how they did so you are able to evaluate your teaching.
Contact the exams officer once term starts.

LegoCatLikesTuna · 28/08/2023 23:42

Sorry, I haven't RTFT but the school should publish the results subject by subject on their website sometime in September/October. So you will at least find out what grades were achieved in your subject.

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 28/08/2023 23:44

She wants to know because she cares about her students! Isn't that obvious? I've been doing catch up tuition in a local school but am employed through an agency. I really want to know how my GCSE students did but I'm not sure I'll be allowed. I've been working with these kids for months and I've grown to care about them and of course I want to know how they did. Surely it's obvious that you'd want to know. Some people may say you shouldn't get emotionally invested like that, but of course you do, you wouldn't be doing the job in the first place if you didn't. I totally get it OP, but I suspect, like me, you won't be able to find out officially. Fingers crossed you'll bump into them somewhere down the line and they'll proudly tell you how well they're doing and you'll be able to heartily congratulate them.
