Helps if you're not off your head on class A's as well I find.

madamez · 01/03/2008 10:36

Hedonia, quite a few children have been harmed, even killed, by 'loved, trusted' family pets. NEVER leave a dog alone with small children. If your dog is already snappy then you should consider either retraining it (take professional advice) or rehoming it. WHile it's good for kids to grow up around animals, you need to be aware of the risks and take sensible precuations.

warthog · 01/03/2008 11:10

'how many people have been mauled by a family pet..none'

err don't you read the news?

warthog · 01/03/2008 11:12

here

here

took me 10 secs to find those articles. i bet all the owners said their dogs were totally trustworthy.

warthog · 01/03/2008 11:13

what about that dc that was killed by her granny's dog?

bluenosesaint · 01/03/2008 11:26

never trust a dog, no matter how trustworthy they appear to be ...

kittywise · 01/03/2008 11:30

A dog is a dog.

All dogs will bite.

No dg is completley trustworty.

If you think that then you are a fool

Lovesdogsandcats · 01/03/2008 11:55

I am thinking the poster might not come back but here goes

You said i work and am not at home alot'

Ok then why do you have a dog exactly?
I would re-home into a house where the owner spends time with the dog. Unless I have that wrong and someone else is at home with the dog?
I really cannot stand people who work full time and own dogs-really mentally cruel imo.

MsPontipine · 01/03/2008 12:00

"difficult cos i work and am not at home alot"

Do you mean you leave the children alone with the dog??

Is the dog babysitting?

MsPontipine · 01/03/2008 12:01

where's my bold

MsPontipine · 01/03/2008 12:02

huh

Joolyjoolyjoo · 01/03/2008 12:02

I'm not convinced this isn't a wind up.

But FWIW as a vet I have put to sleep COUNTLESS dogs that people previously trusted, but which then bit their (or someone else's) kids. If your children are being bitten, or even snapped at you NEED to address the issue. REALLY. I have 2 adorable and soft beagles, but they are NEVER alone with my kids. I am very careful to make sure they know their relative place in the pack. I think you must be truly naive or having a laugh if you genuinely believe that family pets never maul kids. Personally I think its the latter.

MsPontipine · 01/03/2008 12:03

Ah does work (Sorry ignore me!!)

Lulumama · 01/03/2008 14:45

you have to do the asterixs next to each word!

this thread is hilarious, too much wine taken perhaps??

bigbumhole · 01/03/2008 18:17

I wouldn't take any chances at all, despite who's making up fibs/denying it/not knowing the truth etc, any chance of an attack from a dog, it would be gone that day for the sake of the kids. Sorry, but i just wouldn't take the chance

Och, this hedonia is regularly speeding off her tits at all hours of the morning posting random crap. I believe she also has a penchant the old Columbiam marching powder: a must for every career woman, especially at 3am.

ornamentalhaggis · 01/03/2008 20:44

for

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2008 20:56

yes Knickers I instinctively felt that hedonia was not entirely straight and substance free when she posted the above

I thought haggis's post earlier had her bang to rights
