Friend totally spoilt a series I was planning on watching!

Friend told me she was currently on season 8 of a tv series. I asked what it was about and she gave me a brief idea. It sounded just like the type of thing I’d enjoy so I said “oh that sounds great! I’ll start watching season one tonight”.

She then started telling me about season one … I felt she was going a bit too much into detail considering I’d just told her I was going to watch it so I said “yep, sounds just up my street, I’ll watch it tonight, hopefully I won’t come across any spoilers”

She then went on to basically tell me the full details of season one including who dies, who gets married, the twists and turns … I tried saying a number of times “don’t tell me anymore as I’m going to watch it tonight” so she said “oh you will love it, she ends up up pregnant to Jamie but at the end she … “ I said “stop! Don’t tell me!” So she said “ ok I’ll let you watch it yourself but it is sad at the end of season 1 as her sister dies … season 2 starts off with …”

wtf?! Who does that?! How did she not realise she was spoiling the whole bloody thing?!

Another annoying thing OP

is OPs that start threads and won’t respond / update!

It’s outlander. I changed the details of the spoilers to avoid spoiling it for others 😂

Someone told me the twist in The Sixth Sense before I'd watched it, FFS!

That was horrendously mean!! Would have completely spoiled it. We did guess part of the way through, but it was quite far through and it WAS only a guess until we got to the end

@Scurrrt funnily enough I have read all the books but not seen the series yet in case I am disappointed! 😉

Imisssleep2 · 19/08/2023 17:08

That is really odd, only thing I can think is you have spoilt a series or film for her I'm the past and this was pay back lol

Series 1 of Outlander was outstanding have seen it twice now!

I got a proper spoiler yesterday from Netflix, of all places! I won't reveal anything here, but I was watching the first season of Manifest (yes, I know it's been out for ages, I've only just had it recommended to me!) and I hadn't taken any notice of how many series or episodes there were. A new episode began, and the "Previously, on Manifest" bit was all completely new to me, HUGE spoilers! I realised that Netflix only has seasons 1 and 4, and it had rolled straight from S1 E16 to S4 E1! I've managed to find seasons 2 and 3 on Sky, but it's a shame I already know a few things that are going to happen a whole 2 seasons later!

Sympathies. My mum is the queen of doing this! Every time she recommends something to me, she ends up telling nearly whole plot. Hubby and I just started race against the world series three, told mum I'd started watching and she proceeds to tell me how much her and dad had liked the two that won and why!

I guessed about 5 minutes before I started watching it. I was aware there was a twist, had wondered what it was, but came up with no ideas until right before seeing it when an idea just popped into my head. I spent the whole film hoping I was wrong and trying to find clues that it might be something other than my guess. I was so bloody annoyed with myself.

Why didn’t you say to her - stop now you’re ruining it you’ve said too much?

I don’t know why she spoiled it for you - but I equally don’t know why you let her?
