Does this look like lymes disease?

Hi everyone, sorry I am posting here for traffic. I can make it an AIBU 🤣 AIBU that I am worried this is lymes disease?

My 9 year old daughter was bitten a few weeks back. The bites now look like this and I'm suddenly really worried by the bulls eye appearance.

She's T1 diabetic. We go on holiday in a few days

what was she bitten by or don't you know?

Guiltridden12345 · 14/08/2023 22:11

was it a tick? Did you have to pull out a black wiggly thing?

Suddenlyveryworried2023 · 14/08/2023 22:11

I would go to Dr tomorrow.
If it is LD the sooner you get on antibiotics the better

Guiltridden12345 · 14/08/2023 22:12

Whatever bit her, I’d get those seen by a gp.

Magneta · 14/08/2023 22:14

Please do get her seen by a doctor before you go.

I would not leave this one to the internet, or a pharmacist's judgment.

Bulls eye doesn't always mean Lyme but she needs to be seen.

Suddenlyveryworried2023 · 14/08/2023 22:16

We didn't notice a tick - would you always notice it?

We live right by a forest and fields and she spends alot of time rolling round on the grass and playing out there

Will definitely call the GP tomorrow

OneAndDon3 · 14/08/2023 22:18

Yes it does. Get her to the GP tomorrow and treat aggressively.

Cakeandcoffee93 · 14/08/2023 22:18

If she’s type one I wouldn’t mess around with not getting her antibiotics asap

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/08/2023 22:20

It does to me but I’m no expert. Agree get her seen asap

Russooooo · 14/08/2023 22:20

GP. ASAP.

Magneta · 14/08/2023 22:20

You wouldn't be necessarily see it. They take a while to feed and then drop off. If they were under clothing or something you could miss them.

OhYouSweetSweetFool · 14/08/2023 22:21

The last person I knew who had a tick removed was told they only treat if you start to become unwell.
Having a tick bite doesn’t always mean Lyme disease. Where are you going on holiday, abroad or U.K.?

ArcticSkewer · 14/08/2023 22:22

If you are waiting til tomorrow to go to the doctors then you could try taking an antihistamine tonight to see if it helps
My first thought would have been a reaction to a mosquito type insect.

With t1, holiday approaching, and worry about lyme, obviously a GP or similar opinion is needed though

HidingFromDD · 14/08/2023 22:23

May just be a bite reaction as that’s what mine always look like but given the other factors I’d go for a gp appt to be on the safe side

Suddenlyveryworried2023 · 14/08/2023 22:26

Thanks everyone.

Should I dig her out of bed and get her seen tonight? Or turn up 8am at the walk in centre as soon as the doors open?

I feel sick now! Only noticed the rings st bed time

Example pic of a reaction to an insect bite.

Still needed medication from the GP ... so I am not saying don't go ... just an alternative suggestion to what might have caused it

Oh that's more hopeful. Thanks

A friend has just had LD, it looked exactly like this

ArcticSkewer · 14/08/2023 22:32

111 are actually really helpful these days if you phone to see about tonight vs tomorrow

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/08/2023 22:33

I'm a bite magnet and they always look like this, so don't panic but I would get her seen asap just in case.

Copperoliverbear · 14/08/2023 22:33

Might be a spider bite.

Blessedbethefruitz · 14/08/2023 22:33

@Suddenlyveryworried2023 That old thread looks like my allergic mosquito bites too (anaphylaxis). Note the white patches in the middle, which is not the same as yours. Definitely a gp job asap for you.

No! Sleep is good for recovery. Just get on the blower to the gp at 8am and get her seen. Am sure she’ll be ok op, worst case scenario is antibiotics to treat it. Ime (and we live ina very tricky area) ticks don’t just drop off - they need to be removed. So if you saw no ticks, it’s unlikely to be a tick bite and therefore unlikely to be lymes. It may just be a nasty reaction to a particularly nasty insect. My kids react like this to horse flies.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/08/2023 22:38

Looks like my bite when I had Lymes
