Mainstream women's shoes only going up to a size 8

And even then its not always a 42!

Took ds school shoe shopping today and while I was in and out of the various shoe shops, I had a quick look in the women's sections.

I am a 9, but a 43 9. Sometimes a 10. Not a single shoe was bigger than an 8.

Now, luckily I know where I can buy shoes that fit, but I was thinking about this, and isn't it ridiculous?

So, I'm wondering how many women here have feet larger than an 8? I mean, I imagine there aren't tens of thousands of us, but there just be enough to warrant shops selling 9s and 10s?

I remember going into shoe shops and asking "What have you got in a size 8?". No point in choosing anything I liked from the displays and hoping....

I am a ladies 11. My 2 DD's are a 10 and 9.5.
DH and DS are 13 s. Shoe shopping is not fun 😞

Me too! Thankfully I'm not very stylish or fashionable and I live in converse - even my wedding shoes although they had ribbon laces and pearls over the toes.

My 16yr old is 6ft5 a size 13 and still growing. Dread to think what size he'll end up at!

I do that too and then normally leave the shop as they have nothing in a 10.5. One branch of Deichmann was good as they rolled a trolly from the back of large sizes.

The most annoying places have no idea and wants you to check each style individually that you like in a vague hope that they do your size.

I work in NHS so comfortable Clarks mens leather shoes bought in sale do me fine! I have some nice pink Cons. I occasionally find Josef Seibel that fit and unisex Birkinstocks/ crocs etc. My DDs have lived in trainers for years but are starting to want some nicer shoes. It is possible on line to get some choice these days but annoying that you cannot walk into a shop and try things on.

I strongly suspect foot growth isn't only about increasing height and weight.

My grandmother had small feet. She was also often squeezed into too small cast off shoes as a child, then as a young adult forced her feet into fashionable stylish shoes that were not good for your feet. She had a far less active childhood & young womanhood (girls were expected to stay inside, so she got rickets, and engage it quiet, sedentary activities like sewing or knitting).

I spent my childhood in shoes with growing room that allowed my feet to spread and move freely. I used ny feet a lot to run, jump, and swim. With the exception of a brief period in teens and another in early twenties, ive primarily worn flat, comfortable, practical footwear. My feet have had plenty of room to grow, spread and stretch.

No, size 4 but DD is a 6 but claims she is a 7

I thought I'd recommend Cinderella shoes, who are back after going bust a while ago, for slightly more 'cooler' shoes than Magnus. For those with teens.

Yes I think there is some truth in this, my mum had awful bunions, she was always sure it was having to squish her feet into too smaller shoe, she was so relieved when she retired and could wear a comfy 7 trainer, or slippers! Dad had big feet, and my siblings all have big feet, I'm the only fatty in my family, siblings and parents all very slim and athletic and dm had the smallest feet at a 7, and the biggest footed is dbro at a 14....he finds it really, really hard to get shoes.

as a woman with size 12 feet(a 13 if they come up small) since i was a teenager(90s)this is not new news

they are very narrow as well a F

ive had to wear mens trainers/winter boots since i was 13
as there was no other options and even then i couldn't pop in a shop for them as they stopped at a 11 it was online only
im also 6ft with a 36 leg.(that size by 11 as well)

in the 90s trousers were 29 or 31,even tall sections were not long enough

its a good thing ive never been girly or had a job that required certain shoes.

ive turned it in to a money opportunity now as i sell them on feet finder

Thanks for this, I've bookmarked it for when DD needs nice shoes for prom!
