Would you pay to stay for one night in your childhood home

.... because mine is on air bnb!
It looks unrecognisable!
Tempted but also think I would find it sad.
I would never tell my parents I did it. I think they would find it weird.

I've recently moved back into my childhood home.
I cannot tell you how right it feels!
I cared for my mum in the living room until she died and this room feels so peaceful.
I was gutted when it went on the market and wasn't in a position to buy it.
I bought it at first opportunity and the previous owners have done a great job moderning it!
I love being back here and won't ever move now.

That’s lovely 😍. I’m glad you got to get back there, sorry for the loss of your mum.

Iwasafool · 09/08/2023 19:06

No and you couldn't pay me enough to stay there.

Curtains70 · 09/08/2023 19:07

No because it was damp, freezing and miserable. No central heating, had to dress in front of a shitty gas to stay warm enough. Hated it and was so glad when my parents finally managed to buy for themselves when I was a teenager.

Jamtartforme · 09/08/2023 19:09

No. I’m pretty sure I would have some kind of PTSD trigger response. I’ve locked those memories away

tiredofthenoise · 09/08/2023 19:09

I wouldn't find it strange if others wanted to, but I'd rather not. I'm sure it's changed, and I'd rather remember it as it was when I was a child.

Which one? I had 9 before secondary school.
no thanks.

I thought pretty much the same.

Would get expensive if I went to all of them, and would be quite a rubbish tour.

DontBeBitterGlitter2023 · 09/08/2023 19:10

My mum still lives there 🤷‍♀️🤣

Xmasbaby11 · 09/08/2023 19:10

No! It was a lovely house and I adored it, but no need to go back.

Tangled123 · 09/08/2023 19:12

I did for a while in my twenties as my parents still own it and I was able to rent from them. Probably wouldn’t go back now I have my own place though.

Same here. I think the answer is largely dependant on the kind of childhood you had.

Eloweeese · 09/08/2023 20:02

God no thanks

Nevermind31 · 09/08/2023 20:02

Yes. Not the one where I loved as a teenager (my parents still live there), but the one as a child. I have very fond memories of the village, my parents now have a holiday home there, and I take my children every year.

FoodFann · 09/08/2023 20:06

I’ve been back as my mum sometimes lives there. I’ve realised how cold and small it was. My room is not nice.

Louloulouenna · 09/08/2023 20:07

Mine is now a luxury hotel. I stayed a night there and did not enjoy it.

msbevvy · 09/08/2023 20:08

MillicentBystandr · 09/08/2023 17:50

No. I’d pay to burn it down or drive a wrecking ball through it though.

Same here.

UndercoverCop · 09/08/2023 20:08

I think if I offered my parents would think I was being odd, they still live there!

Hickry · 09/08/2023 20:09

Nope! You couldn't pay me to either.

PickledMuffin · 09/08/2023 20:09

No

IHeartGeneHunt · 09/08/2023 20:10

I had three- one of them I would, one isn't there any more and the other definitely not.

TheGoogleMum · 09/08/2023 20:11

No but my parents still live in same house so I can go visit it for free if I want to!

Halo8 · 09/08/2023 20:14

I stay for free, my parents still live there.

Ohshitiveturnedintomymother · 09/08/2023 20:15

As my parents still live there, no as I can stay for free 😂

Halo8 · 09/08/2023 20:16

Actually I’d pay to camp in the garden if necessary, it’s much nicer than mine

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 09/08/2023 17:52

Exactly what I was going to say... They can pay me in home cooking and wine! 🤣
